Diplomová práce se zabývá posouzením vlivu zateplení panelového domu v Ostravě na výdaje spojené s jeho provozem. První část je zaměřena na metody snižování energií v budovách a popisuje metody hodnocení investic. V druhé části je řešeno zateplení bytového domu v Ostravě. Nejprve je důkladně analyzován současný stav domu, jak z hlediska energetického, tak stavebního. Poté jsou navrhnuta jednotlivá opatření ke snížení energetické náročnosti budovy. Následně jsou vytvořena optimální kombinace opatření. Tato opatření jsou posouzena z hlediska dotačních titulů a možností financování. Na závěr je uvedeno vyhodnocení kombinací a zvolení nejlepší kombinace opatření ke snížení nákladů na provozování budovy.
