Pomineme-li staré povodňové značky, lze za počátek hydrologických měření na českých tocích považovat příležitostná pozorování prof. A. Strnada na Vltavě v Praze v 80.letech 18. století, který pozoroval extrémní vodní stavy z observatoře v Klementinu dalekohledem. Jako počátek pravidelných pozorování u nás se obvykle považuje měření na Vltavě v Praze s letopočtem 1825, je to však poněkud sporné (dle našeho názoru jsou doloženy až o dva roky později). Autorům příspěvku se však podařilo najít doklady o tom, že na Odře v Bohumíně se prováděla pozorování vodních stavů již od roku 1820, která pak na rakousko- pruském úseku této řeky trvala úctyhodných 60 let. Těžištěm referátu je rozbor a hodnocení jejich pozapomenutých výsledků. Disregarding the old flood marks, we can consider the beginning of hydrological measurements on Czech watercourses to be occasional observations made by prof. A. Strnad on the Vltava (Moldau) River in Prague in the 1780s where he watched the extreme water levels from his observatory in the Klementinum by using binoculars. The beginning of regular observations in our country is usually considered the measurement on the Vltava R. in Prague dated 1825, which is however somewhat disputable (as far as our knowledge goes, regular measurements are documented only two years later). Nevertheless, the authors succeeded in finding evidence about water level observations on the Odra River in Bohumín already from year 1820, which lasted respectable sixty years on the Austrian-Prussian section of the watercourse. The paper is focused namely on the analysis and evaluation of their half-forgotten results.
