To evaluate the impact resistance of hard nanocomposite coatings in dynamic loading wear applications an impact test using system developed at the Institute of Scientific Instruments in collaboration with Brno University of Technology has been used. During testing the specimen is cyclically loaded by a ball that impacts of the coating surface. After the test, wear scars were evaluated by means of scanning electron microscope, spectral analyses and profilometer. The impact test offers an important new method for determination of the fracture toughness of hard thin coatings and simulates a wide range of tribological systems. Vyhodnocování odolnosti tvrdých nanokompozitních povlaků vůči dynamickému namáhání bylo prováděno na impaktním testeru vyvinutém na Ústavu přístrojové techniky ve spolupráci s Vysokým učením technickým v Brně. Během testu je povrch povlaku cyklicky zatěžován kuličkou dopadající na povrch povlaku. Po testu jsou vyhodnocovány krátery pomocí SEM, spektrálního analyzátoru a profilometru. Impaktní testy nabízí novou metodu pro určení lomové pevnosti tvrdých povlaků a vyhodnocují široké spektrum tribologických systémů.
