Autor se v bakalářské práci zaměřil na analýzu zločineckého podsvětí a fungování policejních sil v Londýně za vlády královny Viktorie. Na základě dobových pramenů analyzoval situaci v metropoli, činnost a metody příslušníků kriminálních elementů a členů Metropolitní policie. Zároveň představil několik příkladů zločinného jednání a fungování policejní služby ve viktoriánském Londýně. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena na čtyři části. V první se autor ve stručnosti soustředil na politickou, hospodářskou a sociální situaci od nástupu královny Viktorie na trůn v roce 1837. Druhá část zaměřena na město Londýn, urbanizaci města a život jeho obyvatel. Třetí část je věnována analýze zločinců a jejich důvodů pro páchání trestné činnosti. V poslední části se autor zaměřil na vznik a rozšíření Metropolitní policie. Vycházel především ze studia vydaných pramenů a anglické odborné literatury. The author in the bachelor thesis focused on a analysis of crime underworld and functioning of police forces in London in time of Queen Victoria. He attempted on the basis of narrative sources to analyze situation in metropolis, activities and methods of criminal elements and members of Metropolitan Police. He introduced several examples of criminal acting and police service operations in Victorian London. The bachelor thesis is divided into four parts; in the first part the author focused shortly on the political, economical and social history starting with a succession of English throne by Queen Victoria in 1837. The second part is focused on City of London, urbanization and life of the inhabitans. The third part is oriented on analysis of criminals and their motives for comitting crimes. In the last part author discussed origins and dissemination of Metropolitan Police. The author primarily worked with narrative sources and English historical literature.
