Práce se zabývá porovnáním sitkomů z padesátých let a současnosti ze Spojených států amerických. Na příkladu čtyř sitkomů: Father Knows Best; Leave It to Beaver; The New Adventure of Old Christine a The Middle se snaží vystopovat změny v rodině, v postavení jednotlivých členů rodiny a v chování mezi členy rodiny. Nadále se snaží zmapovat široko-společenské změny ve formě emancipace, hodnotového žebříčku, norem a společenských stereotypů. Stejně tak si všímá technologických změn jak v podávaném obsahu, tak ve formě natáčení. V první části je popsána historie a vývoj žánru situační komedie, stejně tak jako jeho začlenění mezi žánry a jeho reflexe na společnost. Druhá část se již zabývá vyjmenovanými sitkomy, jejich popisem a výsledky pozorování. Detailně se rozebírají nejdříve změny v rodiny poté i změny v širších souvislostech celé společnosti. The work deals with the comparison of the 4 US sitcoms from the fifties and from the present. For the example of four sitcoms: Father Knows Best; Leave It to Beaver; The New Adventure of Old Christine and The Middle; it tries to track changes in the family, the status of individual family members and behavior among family members. It also tries to map the wide-social changes in the form of emancipation, values, norms and stereotypes. Likewise it tries to observe technological changes both in content and in the form of shooting. For better understanding, the first part describes the history and development of the sitcom genre, as well as the integration between genres and its reflection on society.The second part deals with the description of listed sitcoms and the results from the observations.At first in the work are discussed the details of the changes in the family then the changes in the broader context of the whole society.
