Z pohledu základních sociálních a hodnotových charakteristik je vrcholový sport vytržen z běžného sociálního kontextu, zatímco volnočasový rekreační sport je v něm hluboce zakotven. Míra preference sportovních aktivit výrazně ovlivňuje intenzitu trávení volného času a formu životního stylu. Volnočasovým sportovním aktivitám se věnuje mnoho výzkumů, konkrétně cyklistice mnoho projektů. Druhou část této práce tvoří interpretace výsledků vlastního průzkumu různých aspektů ježdění na kole. Ukázalo se, že respondenti jezdící na kole, ježdění provozují nejčastěji kvůli odpočinku a relaxaci. Velmi častým důvodem k ježdění na kole patřilo též podnikání výletů, mnoho cyklistů jezdí s koly i na vícedenní dovolené. Dále se práce věnuje analýze toho, co pro respondenty jízda na kole znamená, zda slyšeli ve svém okolí narážky na to, v čem někdo na kole jezdí, zda tráví dovolené na kolech a další. From the perspective of basic social and value characteristics professional sport is pulled from common social context while free-time sport is anchored deeply in. The rate of preference of sport activities significantly affects intensity of spending free time and form of life style. A lot of researches are dedicated to free-time sporting specifically cycling many of projects. Second part of my work is created from interpretation of results of my own research of different aspects of cycling. It has been showed respondents riding a bike carry on cycling most often due to rest and relaxation. Very frequent reason for cycling is making trips and many of cyclists go to multiday vacation with bikes. Further the work devotes to analysis what cycling means for respondents, if they heard in their neighborhood cues about another people outfits, whether they spend vacation on bikes et cetera.
