Předmětem této bakalářské práce je vypracování překladu první části knihy A Story of England britského autora Christophera Hibberta a následného komentáře, který zahrnuje překladatelskou analýzu originálu, popis metody překladu a popis předkladatelských problémů a posunů. První část knihy pojednává o dějinách Anglie od neolitu až do roku 1066, přičemž se zaměřuje zejména na jednotlivé vlny osidlování ostrova. Jedná se o populárně naučný text, který se vyznačuje zejména množstvím termínů, reálií, rozvitých větných členů, polovětných vazeb a komplikovanou syntaxí. The first part of the book deals with the history of England from the Neolithic times to 1066. It focuses mainly on the individual waves of immigration. It is a popular scientific text characterized by a number of terms, facts from British life, complex phrases, participles and a complex syntax.
