Presented bachelor work attempts a reflection of terms between Slovaks and Hungarians in Košice since 1918 until 1921. This work shows how compatible was Slovak's loyalty with a loyalty towards Habsburg monarchy and also if this loyalty has changed during the war into one towards Czechoslovak republic. The aim of this work was to identify the relationship of citizens to the newly created state, changes in their nation feeling and in the ethnic structure of the city. For pointing out the atmosphere in the city this work uses an analysis of east slovak periodical Slovenský východ, which was published in Košice. Predložená bakalárska práca sa pokúsila o reflexiu vzťahov medzi slovenskými a maďarskými občanmi mesta Košice v časovom rozmedzí rokov 1918-1921. Práca ukazuje nakoľko bola lojalita Slovákov zlučiteľná s lojalitou voči Habsburskej ríši. Ako a či sa táto lojalita v priebehu vojny premenila v lojalitu k Československej republike. Snahou tejto práce bolo zistiť vzťah obyvateľov mesta k novovzniknutému štátu, zmeny v ich národnom cítení a zmeny v národnostnej štruktúre mesta. Na poukázanie atmosféry v meste práca využíva aj analýzu východoslovenského periodika Slovenský východ, ktorý vychádzal v Košiciach.
