Studium každodenního života získává v dnešní diferencované společnosti nový rozměr. Za posledních několik desítek let došlo k významným proměnám časových a prostorových vztahů, které dnes nabývají mnoha různých podob, z nichž některé jsou relativně novými fenomény (např. virtuální vztahy). Společnost se diferencuje také sociálně a kulturně. Na jednom místě se dnes střetávají každodenní životy lidí s různými postoji a hodnotami, zvyky a způsoby chování, lidí odlišných životních stylů. Tyto skutečnosti ukazují na důležitost výzkumu každodenního života, který je rutinní a samozřejmý pro člověka nebo skupinu lidí v daném prostoru a čase, ale jinak je proměnlivým a diferencovaným jevem. Zároveň vyvstávají v kontextu soudobých proměn společnosti nové otázky, které vybízejí k revizi definic každodenního života a k hledání nových metod výzkumu. Tato dizertační práce se snaží nalézt pozici geografie ve výzkumu každodenního života a přispět tak k formování geografické subdisciplíny, která zatím není plně rozvinuta. Reaguje na přístupy ovlivněné geografií času, které mají tendenci redukovat každodenní život lidí na cestu časoprostorem a vytvářet modely lidského chování a snaží se je "oživit" pomocí konceptů, které reflektují subjektivní vnímání a prožívání jednotlivců a atmosféru míst. Každodenní život lidí... The study of everyday life has become a new challenge in contemporary society. Over the last few decades there have been significant changes of temporal and spatial relationships, which now come in many different forms, some of which are relatively new phenomena (e.g. virtual relationships). The society differentiates also socially and culturally. People with different attitudes and values, habits and behaviours, people of different lifestyles meet at one place and encounter everyday lives of others. These facts demonstrate the importance of everyday life research. Everyday life is routine and self-evident for a man or group of people in a given space and time but otherwise it is variable and differentiated phenomenon. New issues arise in the context of contemporary changes that encourage the questioning the definitions of everyday life and also finding new methods of research. The thesis searches for the position of geography in the research of everyday life and thus contributes to the formation of a subdiscipline of geography that is not yet fully developed.
