Abstract: A large, unfortified settlement in an open position with Funnel Beaker culture in Velké Přílepy (district of Prague - west) represents one of the most important early Eneolithic period sites in Bohemia. Archaeological excavations conducted in 1994-99 uncovered over sixty structures dating to the period of Funnel Beaker culture. This study addresses the processing of a selected group of fourteen structures. On the basis of a detailed evaluation of pottery material, the relevant morphological features were used to classify the local settlement in the Siřem phase of the aforementioned culture. For the purpose of reaching a clearer understanding of the importance of the described location and its inclusion in the broader context of the settlement structure of the early Eneolithic period, the study also includes a general overview of the development of Funnel Beaker culture in Bohemia and Moravia.
