Abstrakt: Mathematical modelling of many geomechanical problems with the aid of the finite element method leads to high computational demands, which are concentrated in the solution of large-scale linear systems. This contribution adresses the solution of these systems by iterative methods based on CG and its generalizations, the use of space decomposition preconditioners and good initial guesses in a time stepping procedure.
