Tato disertační práce je věnována problematice českého a německého expresionismu v souvislostech dobových dějin umění, teorie umění a filozofie. Takto široce vymezené téma umožňuje postihnout všechny záměry, které bych v této studii chtěla naplnit. V úvahách soustředěných na české umění počátku 20. století ve středoevropských souvislostech bych ráda nově zvážila význam fenoménu expresionismu.
