Abstract: This contribution gives information about possibilities of efficient production of fuel gas for high temperature fuel cells (SOFC or MCFC) by biomass gasification, esp. in fluidized beds, about efficient fuel gas cleaning, requirements and practical limits of fuel gas purity and effects of basic operating parameters on the efficiency of fuel gas production. The overall efficiency of power production based on biomass gasification with steam cycle, combined cycle and cycles exploiting high temperature fuel cells is estimated.
