Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na analýzu prolínání sportu a mezinárodních vztahů. Tento vztah je rozebírán na příkladu olympijských her v Moskvě a v Los Angeles, které se setkaly s hromadným bojkotem zemí západního, respektive východního bloku. Bojkoty obou těchto olympijských her byly velmi úzce spjaty s aktuální politickou situací a vrcholící studenou válkou. V roce 1980 podnikl Sovětský svaz invazi do Afghánistánu, na což značná část západní části světa reagovala vyhlášením bojkotu olympijských her v Moskvě. O čtyři roky později se konaly olympijské hry v americkém Los Angeles, a většina zemí východního bloku se tyto hry rozhodla bojkotovat ze strachu o bezpečí svých sportovních výprav. Teoretická část této práce popisuje hlavní události, které se ve 20. a 21. století odehrály na pomezí sportu a mezinárodních vztahů. Praktická část se pak věnuje čistě olympijským hrám v Moskvě a Los Angeles, zejména pak obdobím před těmito hrami. V těchto obdobích se na úrovni vysoké politiky rozhodovalo o bojkotu jednotlivých her. Výslednou tezí, která vychází z této diplomové práce je, že sport je velmi často užívaným prostředkem zahraniční politiky, který ovšem není příliš účinný. The main theme of this work is analysis blending of sport and international relations. This relationship is discussed on the example of Olympic Games in Moscow and Los Angeles. These Olympic Games met with collective boycott of the Western or more preciesly the Eastern block. Boycotts of both of these Olympics Games were associated with the current political situation and with the culmination of the Cold War. The Soviet Union invaded to Afghanistan in 1980.Significant part of the Western world responded to this invasion by announcing a boycott of the olympic games in Moscow. The olympic games in Los Angeles were held four years later. Most of the countries of the Eastern block decided to boycott the games beacause of the fear for the safety of their sport expeditions. The theoretical part of this work describes the main events between sport and internetional relations in the 20th and the 21th century. The practical part is devoted only to olympic games in Moscow and Los Angeles, It is especially focused on the period before these Olympics Games. During these periods it has been decided about the boycott of the games at the high level policy. Final thesis, which is based on this diploma work, is the fact, that the sport is frequently used tool of the foreign policy and it is not very effective.
