Práce se zabývá postavením Spojených států vůči organizaci NAFTA, důvody, které USA vedly k založení integrace, a vztahy USA uvnitř organizace se zaměřením na Mexiko. Dále práce zkoumá vývoj amerického přístupu za období fungování organizace, stejně jako jeho změnu po nástupu nové administrativy. Rozebrány jsou i bezpečnostní rizika a další faktory bránící v rámci mexicko-amerických vztahů dalšímu rozvoji integrace. The Thesis deals with the role of the US in NAFTA, reasons that lead the US to take part in this integration as well as its relations with other NAFTA countries (with concentration on Mexico). Furthermore, the Thesis focuses on American attitude towards NAFTA and its changes, mainly under the new administration. Security riska and other issues restraining further development of the organisation.
