Karl, Václav ; Kozák, Kryštof (advisor) ; Fiřtová, Magdalena (referee)
This thesis' focus is a free trade agreement between the European Union and the United States of America called the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. The main goal of the thesis is to answer the question of why the negotiations began as late as 2013. The thesis touches on the issue of regionalism; therefore it presents a short introduction on this topic in the beginning. It then follows to the Second World War and by chronologically analysing the trade relations between the EU and the USA it describes the factors which led to the negotiations of TTIP, as well as those that called them off. Among these main factors it primarily mentions the failure of multilateral negotiations within the WTO and various interest groups on both sides of the Atlantic, mainly trade and consumer organisations. Furthermore, it mentions the Great Recession of 2007 and the decline in the influence of the United States and the European union on the world geopolitical scene. The thesis also analyses which of the mentioned factors were relevant at certain moments and in individual cases, as well as if it shifted the negotiations back to the start. The whole thesis is written from the american perspective on this issue and it takes the european one into consideration only in the cases of dispute. In the end, it...
Global value chains after the Great Recession: main challenges for advanced and developing countries
Tsyrulnik, Alexandr ; Bolotov, Ilya (advisor) ; Černá, Iveta (referee)
The industrial revolution made great industrial powers out of North America and Western Europe. Hundred years after, ICT revolution and offshoring of production processes paved the way for intense economic growth of the developing countries. Following breakdown of the Soviet Bloc, market oriented reforms in China together with other circumstances have gradually changed balance of powers in favour of the developing world. However, developed economies have been keeping a competitive advantage consisting in activities associated with creativity and know-how, while the newly industrialized countries have been using mainly extensive growth model based on cheap labour and repetitive activities. These processes have been taking place across highly advanced and sophisticated global value chains. Our goal is to look deeply into the impact of the smiling curve and the evolution of the shares of value added for both developing and developed countries, before and after the Great Recession, across three industries: textile, electronics and automotive, and find out, whether developing countries are situated in a so-called low value added trap, in other words their shares for a longer period have either been stagnating or declining, while shares of developed countries have been constantly growing.
Kvantitativní uvolňování versus tzv."helicopter money" a jejich účinnost
Pyatova, Victoria ; Šíma, Ondřej (advisor) ; Hába, Stanislav (referee)
The bachelor thesis examines the impact of the Quantitative Easing on the economies such as the USA, the UK, and the Eurozone, it focuses on the economies conditions and structure that determine the size of the effect. As a result, the analysis has shown a limited impact of unconventional monetary policy in the Euro area as the banking sector performs very poorly comparing to the effective implementation in the US and the UK, where the main role of asset allocation was given to financial market. The new concept called the Helicopter Money is introduced in the paper as a new method for Eurozone countries to boost economic development. The advantages and disadvantages of Helicopter Money are broadly discussed by well-known economists as well as the mechanism of its implementation. The macroeconomics models and theories were applied in order to give a closer look at this concept. The author of this paper sees the high potential for the Eurozone in a short and a long-term on condition that the money drop will be supported by corresponsive fiscal policy.

The tax measures in EU that were adopted because of the global economic crisis
Kadlecová, Lucie ; Kubátová, Květa (advisor) ; Hartlová, Alena (referee)
The thesis deals with the tax measures adopted in the EU countries in the context of the global economic crisis. The objective of this thesis was to describe the tax changes and evaluate their effectivity. The adopted measures were evaluated with regard to the theoretical principles of taxation. In my thesis I used the method of secondary analyses of the EU and OECD materials; to evaluate the effectivity of the tax changes I have used the method of comparison and deduction. I made detailed analysis of tax reforms in Hungary, Greece and Germany. The tax measures in all compared countries confirmed the recent trend -- a shift from direct to indirect taxation. In my work I also focused on the impact of fiscal policy on economic growth. During the crisis the EU countries tried to support the economy by fiscal incentives which led to the high state debt and in some countries almost to a state bankruptcy. It is very complicated to explain how much influence had the taxes in the combat with the crisis. However it is quite certain that without the fiscal help a number of states would be still in recession.
