Prevalence and incidence of alcohol tobacco and cannabis use in the cohort of primary school students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade

Background The period of adolescence is typical for first experiments and initiation of substance use. The onset of experiments emerges between 11 and 15 years of age according to different authors. Although many adolescents end with experiments, there is still a group of those who proceed to regular use. Frequent, regular and especially heavy substance use represents various risks in many aspects of individual's life. According to various studies earlier onset of substance use may predict serious difficulties in adult stages of life. Important and currently widely discussed question is differences in substance use between boys and girls. Aims To identify the age of cigarette, alcohol and cannabis use onset according to gender. To find out prevalence of use among boys and girls. To find out whether incidence of substance use is higher during school year or summer holidays. Methods The ESPAD questionnaire was used for data collection, which was realized in the period of 34 months from August 2007 until June 2010. Indicators were defined for categories of cigarette smoking, alcohol drinking and experience with cannabis. Cannabis drugs among students of Prague medical faculties: prevalence of use and related risk behaviour

Objectives : The main goal of this work is to find out prevalence of use cannabis drugs among students of medical faculties in Prague and also find out a relationship between cannabis drugs abuse and risk behaviour. Sample : The research sample consisted of 686 medical students First, Second and Third faculty of Medecine of Charles University in Prague. The main criterium for entry into the research was that students had to be enrolled in first through fifth year of medicine. Students of medicine sixth grade were excluded from research because of their limited time schedule, which related to their studies. Methods : Research was provided by quantitative methods - questionnaire, which was structured and anonymous Results : It was found that lifetime prevalence of cannabis use among medical students compared with the earlier results of different studies significantly increased. The prevalence of cannabis use over the past 12 months was higher in men than in women. It was confirmed that men on average achieve higher scores on the CAST questionnaire, which maps the risk behavior regarding the use of cannabis. Cannabis drugs use and the status of the student in the class: a comparison of different types of secondary schools

The objective of my thesis is to deepen and expand research on my thesis I tried to prove or disprove the link between social status in the classroom and student use of cannabis. For research, I chose a sample of 21 students cook waiter field. In my thesis expand my research, because I want to prove whether the result is unique to college or is a general phenomenon among high school students. For the purposes of my research, I added one class schools, two gymnazium school classes, because this children are considered elite, and finally two classes of business school and for this reason that this type of education is visited the largest number of students. In my research I used combination od three methods. sociometric research, selected questions from the ESPAD questionnaire and interviews with selected students. Based on the research showed that the visible difference in the relation between social status and cannabis use at each school. The largest is in the school and the smallest is in the gymnazium.. This fact seems to me very interesting and I think that the fact this could work to solve this serious problem. Harm reduction strategies of cannabis drugs use from the point of view of their users

Background: Cannabis drugs are the most used illicit drug in the Czech Republic. About 1,78 million people use cannabis, most of them are young people aged 15-34 years (Mravčík et al., 2020). Use in the young age, regular and intensive use of large amounts of cannabis is associated with the negative impact on health and life of users. Previous studies have described the harm redcution strategies, less is known about relative occurrence of the hram reduction stategies, especially in the czech environment. Aims: The aim of the study was to investigate what kind of harm reduction strategies are used by cannabis users. Methods: The research was conducted as a quantitative study. This mapping study was aimed to describe the behaviour of cannabis users in relation to use of the harm reduction strategies, and to explore the relative occurrence of these strategies. As a method of data collection was used a questionnaire survey. Results: Most frequently emerged harm reduction strategies among cannabis users are in relation to the effects of use on physical health. Most of these strategies focus on minimising the harms associated with smoking cannabis, particularly marijuana cigarettes. Marijuana Regulation in Colombia and Uruguay: A Comparative Policy Analysis

This study uses a Comparative Policy Analysis (CPA) between Colombia and Uruguay using the common analytical framework created by Rogeberg, Bergsvik, Phillips, Amsterdam, Eastwood, Henderson and Nutt (2018) where it can be described, assessed and discussed policy regimes. First, it describes the development of the drug policy towards the marijuana use in Latin-American countries, and secondly, each country is classified according to the characteristics of the Policy Regimes: a) Absolute prohibition regime, b) decriminalization, c) State control, and d) free market. Besides, each country is evaluated according to the seven clusters designed in the common analytical framework. Drug Scene and Living in Squats in Příbramsko

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of drug scene and life in squats. These are the serious social problems of today's society. The work deals with this issue within the particular region for which the Přibram region was selected. The drug scene and living in squats in Přibram is a very topical issue. Drugs are becoming more popular especially among young people. The reasons are many young people try, where are actually their borders. The specific reasons may include, for example, family problems, problems at school or with a partner as well. The aim is to map the drug scene and squatting in Příbram through eyes of people using illegal substances. Work is focused on drugs in the general aspect determination by origin, by their action, and by the risk of addiction. Drug dependence is the inability to dispense with the drug, which is typical for addicts. The drug scene in the Czech Republic is especially characteristic by being drawn from drugs that are most prevalent in our country it is cannabis, MDMA (ecstasy) and last but not least methamphetamine. In the Central region, the situation is more or less constant for several years. Squatting is unlawful occupation of empty houses and their subsequent impoverished countryside populated. Nowadays in squats we can meet a number of drug - addicted people. For thesis the chosen method is quantitative research. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on several problematic areas. They are drugs, the drug scene in the Czech Republic, social work with drug addicts and squatting. The practical part is devoted to the investigation questionnaire, which will take place in Contact Center Příbram. The questionnaire survey is completely anonymous, and respondents are asked about illegal drugs, their use and squatting. The research survey worked with three hypotheses. The first hypothesis assumed that an experience with squatting in researched region has rather men than women. This hypothesis was refuted. The second hypothesis was: The users of illegal drugs of the researched region over 25 years of age prefer intravenous use of addictive substance while younger users choose less risk of use, and it was confirmed. The third hypothesis, assuming that more men than women spend daily over 500 CZK for drugs, was also confirmed.
Addiction Issues of High School Students

The bachelor thesis deals with the substance abuse problematics (addiction on legal and illegal substances) and so-called non-substance, also known as behavioural addictions (gambling addiction, computer addiction, internet addiction) which concern high school pupils. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis is dedicated to general characteristics of addiction and it also describes how the addiction begins and progresses. The practical part is based on a survey which was distributed on high schools. The aim of this thesis is to find out personal experience of substance abuse among pupils attending high school and to determine the time spent on the computer, internet and mobile device.

Issue of substance abuse and school environment

The thesis investigates the theoretical knowledge about the issue of addictive substances and personal experience with their use for pupils 6. and 8. classes of primary school and for students 2. and 4. year of the grammar school. In the first part of my work, I focused on the definition of basic concepts, the outline of the characters and the possible causes that lead to addiction to drugs, I presented the most commonly used drugs and identified the possibilities of drug prevention. The second part is devoted to a survey in the form of a questionnaire, which directly examines the knowledge and experience with the drug specific age groups of pupils and students. This work could be material for teachers who want to participate in the drug prevention.
