Eastern Partnership

This bachelor thesis deals with the program of the Eastern Partnership. First of all thesis examines the European Neighbourhood Policy from the moment of commencement until the consequences and limits of the policy. After that thesis focuses on the very program of the Eastern Partnership as the eastern dimension of the European Neighbourhood Policy. At this point thesis inspects the commencement of the program, its tools, and of course, its results as well as failures. In the third part thesis concentrates on the foreign policy of the Czech republic in relation to the Eastern Partnership as its priority. Firstly, the focus is devoted to participants of czech foreign policy, after that, thesis focuses on the role of the Czech republic initiative of the Eastern Partnership and to finish with examination of activities which are conducted by the Czech republic in the Eastern Partnership.
Effectiveness of the Eastern Partnership of the EU

The thesis focuses on analyzing the support of democracy model through the external governance and its efficiency as potentially more successful alternative to leverage and linkage. The theoretical part shows that democratic governance defines democracy according to the following principles: transparency, accountability and public participation. It is also based on the concept of external governance, which focuses on expanding EUs internal rules beyond its borders. For this purpose the case of Eastern Partnership was chosen. This case uses the mechanism of external governance and also applies the strategy of the support of the democracy in sector cooperation. The efficiency of this initiative or rather support of the democracy through the external governance is evaluated by comparative analysis of impact of cooperation of EU and partner country on their legislative development within the three selected sector policies (energy industry, environmental protection, justice and home affairs). The time period for the research is from establishing of the initiative in 2009 to the summit in Vilnius in the fall 2013. EU - Ukraine Relations between 2004 and 2011: from the European Neighbourhood Policy to the Eastern Partnership

The Bachelor's thesis deals with a problem of the EU-Ukraine relations between 2004 and 2011 in form of a case-study. More specifically, it focuses on the European Neighbourhood Policy and the project of Eastern Partnership. Analysing the partnership, the thesis tries to answer a research question what the reason for failure of the European goals in Ukraine is. To answer the question the thesis is divided into three parts and each of them describes and analyses the development of the relations between EU and Ukraine. The first chapter elaborates points from history of the partnership which are relevant for the development after 2004. The second part looks into the European Neighbourhood Policy, its origins and character together with the contribution to the relations with Ukraine. The final section aims at the Eastern Partnership initiative and it describes and analyses the policy as well. The second part of the chapter offers a comparison of both policies and it deduces limits of the European foreign policy in Ukraine. Finally, the thesis comes to conclusion that the hypothesis stating that the EU failed to achieve its goals in Ukraine due to the inconsistent approach towards Ukraine was partly right. Multilateralism in the European Neighbourhood Policy

This paper focuses on the existence of multilateral relations among European Union and its Eastern neighbors. The purpose of this paper is to study whether and to what extent multilateral relations have existed with Eastern states since the introduction of European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). Paper deals as well with the progress of these relations emphasizing mainly the evolution after the release of Eastern Partnership. An in-depth examination of different aspects of the above mentioned relations confirms the paper's assumption that the multilateral type of relations have existed since the startup of ENP and that they were deepened by Eastern Partnership. The final part of the paper is devoted to the assessment of multilateral dimension of Eastern part of the European neighbourhood, its interpretation enriched by current debates.
Assessment of the EU Eastern Partnership and its application in cooperation with selected African countries

The aim of this theses is to evaluate the EU's Eastern Partnership and to make conclusions from the possibility of cooperation with the countries of Africa. The Theses answers the question, how to deal with immigration from Africa in the place of origin. Investigated area includes Eastern Partnership and the problems of Africa due to historical factors. The findings indicate, that although the beginning of approach to the Eastern Partnership of the EU was not suitable, in the final consequence it lead to improvement and benefit from the partnership, for both parties. Historical reasons for African problems are slavery, colonialism and totalitarian regimes after independence. The Eastern Partnership is based on principles, that are currently in needed to correct in African countries. The Theses suggests that the potential partnership would help improve the situation of African countries.
European Union and its approach towards the Ukrainian crisis from Maidan until Minsk 2

This bachelor thesis is dealing with the topic of the Ukrainian crisis in the historical and present perspective. The goal of this thesis is to analyse approach of the European Union towards the war in the eastern Ukraine as well as towards violations of the international law by the Russian Federation. This work covers the events in Ukraine since demonstrations on Kiev's Independence Square until the negotiations of the second peace agreement signed in Minsk. The subject of research is also the future of the Ukrainian state as an equal partner of the EU and Russia.
Visegrad Cooperation in the EU: Eastern Partnership as an Area of Common Interest

This thesis deals with the Visegrad Group (V4) as on of the cooperating coalitions in the European Union (EU). Then, a deeper analysis of one common topic of V4 in EU is provided - analysis of V4 activities in the framework of Eastern Partnership. Therefore the aim of the thesis is to analyse concrete actions of V4 within the policy of Eastern Partnership and choose those that contribute the most to the development of Eastern Partnership.
European neighbourhood policy: the economic dimension of the Eastern partnership

The purpose of this paper is to prove the progress of the Eastern Partnership despite the unsettled economic and political situation in most of participating countries by means of a closer look at the bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation between EU and the partners and by emphasizing the main guidelines and potential of the implemented projects in the sphere of economic integration and convergence with EU policies. The first chapter introduces the Eastern initiative by explaining its premises, thematic platforms and the main purposes of the bilateral and multilateral track. It also introduces the profile of the partner states, depicting therefore the international context of the Partnership. The second chapter offers a detailed look at the fundamental level of the Eastern Partnership. It embodies two sub-chapters corresponding with the bilateral and multilateral track. The third chapter represents a general view of the project implementation in connection with existing challenges and offers a set of recommendations which would increase the EaP's performance.
The Eastern Partnership from Czech perspective

The thesis is focused on the policy of the Eastern Partnership, which constitutes the east dimension of the European neighbourhood policy that was launched after the EU's enlargement in 2004. The Eastern Partnership is analysed from Czech perspective. The thesis deals with the Czech attitude towards the Eastern partnership and depicts steps that have been taken by the Czech Republic in order to enforce and promote the policy at both official and unofficial meetings. To provide a complete and relevant Czech view of the policy, the thesis also describes the contributions of Czech non-governmental organisations and Czech businesses to the policy.
Cooperation of the Visegrad Group countries within the European Union

The thesis deals with development of the Visegrad cooperation after the year 1989 and further after the countries of the Visegrad Group entered the EU. Object of the thesis is analysis of security cooperation in the Central Europe region, analysis of the position of the Visegrad Group towards the Eastern Partnership initiative and analysis of energy policy of individual countries.
