Eibl, Lukáš ; Novák, Miroslav (advisor) ; Švec, Radek (referee)
This bachelor's thesis examines the implications and impacts of the opposition agreement between the political parties the ČSSD and the ODS. The introduction is the definition of the way for the conclusion of the contract and the circumstances of its creation. Subsequently the work deals with the analysis and definition of the main causes leaded up to the opposition agreement. On the basis of these causes are identified major themes and objectives of both opposition parties including the definition of what exactly these two sides promised by this unusual and surprising cooperation. The next chapter is concerned with the main theme of this work which is an analysis of the effects and impacts of the opposition agreement. The consequences associated with the Czech political system are analysed at first. The greatest emphasis is placed on the consequences of the new electoral law and its comparison with the original electoral law. The next is the analyse of the transformation and development of the Czech party system during the term of the opposition agreement. I've used Sartori's typology of party systems for this analysis. In addition there are mentioned and discussed also other consequences that are linked to the opposition agreement and that in some way related to political and public affairs....
The Czech Republic and the UK: a Eurosceptic comparison
Gata-Aura, Navraj ; Váška, Jan (advisor) ; Cibulková, Petra (referee) ; Hanley, Seán (referee)
Euroscepticism has recently started to enjoy a renaissance, boasting many different works in different formats whether it be a comparative study of two European countries or, investigating Euroscepticism in different national contexts to account for possible variations of Euroscepticism. This work aims to show the contrary. Using country case studies of the Czech Republic and the UK, this paper shows that regardless of temporal differences and differences in national contexts, Euroscepticism is intrinsically linked to some lines of argument concerning economy and democracy.

The student will be dealing with the time period from 2008 to the present. In the second part, the theory will be applied to the political parties. the aim of the work is to define the type of euroscepticism, compare its manifestation and determine whether in the selected time period the euroscepticism changed and if so, what caused this change (or the stability) of the advocated position.
Party-based euroscepticism in the scheme of Civic democratic party
Dufek, Filip ; Bureš, Jan (advisor) ; Polášek, Martin (referee)
The aim of this paper is to analyze main approaches in the study of euroscepticism and to categorize them into the definition of Party-based euroscepticism which based on criteria defined to apply the theory to a particular political party. I will prove this in the example of the Civic democratic party. From these observations it will be obvious that euroscepticism in Central and East European countries is typical mainly for right-wing parties. ODS is a typical example of a right-wing euroscepticism political party which can be applied to the theory presented. I will empirically refer to the development of party's attitude in various time periods. As far a s the content itself is considered it is interesting to observe a difference between the party's preferences and the emphasis which supports the euroscepticism approach. Keywords Euroscepticism, European Integration, Party System, Party Politics, Civic Democratic Party

Local Policy and Its Specifics: Case Study of Prague 16
Nikodýmová, Anna ; Müller, Karel (advisor) ; Kný, Daniel (referee)
Although a local policy is a necessary issue for a functioning of a democratic political system, it usually does not stand in the center of common interests. This paper deals with its functioning in Prague 16 where the Civic Democratic Party has won the municipal elections since 1994. The aim of this paper is to find the main factors which led to its winning in the municipal elections in 2014. The main text is divided into three chapters. The first theoretical one concerns with a theory of democracy, civil society and elite theory. The second one describes a creation of a local policy in Prague 16 - namely results of municipal elections since 1994, a way in which local political institutions have been created as well as political parties run for the last municipal elections in 2014. The third chapter deals with an analysis of election results and interviews made with local representatives and councilors.
