Correlation properties of magnetosheath fluctuations
Gutynska, Olga ; Šafránková, Jana (advisor) ; Vandas, Marek (referee) ; Souček, Jan (referee)
Title: Correlation properties of magnetosheath fluctuations Author: Olga Gutynska Department: Department of Surface and Plasma Science Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Jana Šafránková, DrSc. e-mail address: Jana.Safrankova@mff.cuni.cz Abstract: This thesis deals with fluctuations of the magnetic field (MF) and plasma density in different magnetosheath locations. The statistical study of the correlation length of these quantities has shown that these lengths are surprisingly low for both the ion flux and MF (approx. 1 RE). However, the correlation length increases with an increasing correlation between the magnetosheath and interplanetary magnetic fields (IMF). Further, we have found that the correlation length of MF fluctuations depends on the solar wind speed, on a correlation between IMF and magnetosheath MF fluctua- tions, and on the amplitude of fluctuations. The statistical study of radial profiles of cross-correlations between MF and plasma density at the subsolar and flank regions based on Cluster and THEMIS magnetosheath observa- tions revealed better correlations toward the magnetopause. A study of the modification of the IMF direction in the magnetosheath has shown that a reliable prediction of the magnetosheath BZ sign requires |IMF BZ| > 2 nT and that this prediction is more precise during solar minimum....
Influence of territorial infrastructure on regional development
Netuka, Vojtěch ; Krejza, Zdeněk (referee) ; Vaňková, Lucie (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the determination of influence of territorial infrastructure on regional development. Basic concepts of the issue and a procedure of the construction of a composite indicator are explained in the theoretical part. Methodology of work lies in the creation of two composite indicators characterizing areas of territorial infrastructure and regional development using appropriate input statistical data. These indicators are then subjected to a correlation analysis.
The relationship between Pathological Buying and Materialism in paramedical staff: correlation survey
Pousková, Eliška ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Vondráčková, Petra (referee)
Resources: The topic of this Master's thesis is oniomania, or in other words, pathologic shopping and how it is affected by an individual's materialistic value orientation. Pathologic shopping refers to an unmanageable urge to buy something, to order, to own a thing. For the needs of this thesis, materialism is understanded as the conviction that gaining material goods is the ultimate life goal, main index of success and key to happiness. Based on the research, materialism is considered to be a significant predictor of oniomania. Aims and methodology: The main aim of this thesis was to describe the relationship between pathologic shopping and materialism. Then prevalence of pathologic shopping was further detected in the focus group which consisted solely of non-medical health care staff as well as the prevalence of age and income. The research also focused on circumstances and consequences of pathological shopping. 853 respondents participated in this correlation research based on data gained from the survey. Main results: With use of correlation analysis it was found that rising rate of materialism leads to higher tendency to shopping compulsively. 55 impulsive shoppers were identified in the research sample which makes it 6,45 % of the total number of respondents. The results showed that neither...
Snow drought and driving factors affecting snowpack inter-annual variability in the Sumava Mts
Bek, Dominik ; Jeníček, Michal (advisor) ; Hotový, Ondřej (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the problems associated with the snow drought that is defined as below-average accumulation of snow. The main goal of the work was 1) to evaluate the current stage of in the research focused on the snow drought as well as 2) to analyze the winter snow conditions in the period 2015-2020. Data obtained by measurements carried out at the weather stations operated (1) by the Department of the physical geography and geoecology of the Faculty of Sciences of the Charles University and (2) by the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute in the Bohemian Forest region (Sumava) have been applied. Special attention has been paid to the identification of meteorological causes affecting the inter- annual variability in snow storages. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the research review dealing with the snow drought and its various types as well as with ongoing and future changes in snowpack. The results data analysis is presented in the second part. The Spearman's rank correlation coefficient was used to calculate the strength of the relationship between the snow and climatic variables and between the snow characteristics themselves. The results have revealed that the air temperature represents the most dominant factor affecting the inter-annual...
Statistical analysis of big industrial data
Zamazal, Petr ; Popela, Pavel (referee) ; Šomplák, Radovan (advisor)
This thesis deals with processing of real data regarding waste collection. It describes select parts of the fields of statistical tests, identification of outliers, correlation analysis and linear regression. This theoretical basis is applied through the programming language Python to process the data into a form suitable for creating linear models. Final models explain between 70 \% and 85 \% variability. Finally, the information obtained through this analysis is used to specify recommendations for the waste management company.

Assessing Selected Indicators Using Statistical Methods
Bednářová, Veronika ; Michalíková, Eva (referee) ; Doubravský, Karel (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the assessment of selected indicators using statistical methods. The first part is devoted to theoretical background, which describes financial indicators, time series analysis and regression and correlation analysis. The second part deals with the analysis of selected indicators and statistical analysis, which predicts the values of indicators for the next two years. Then correlation analysis is created, which determines the dependence between selected financial indicators. The last part is devoted to proposals leading to the improvement of the current situation of the company.
Research of new online handwriting features in children with graphomotor difficulties
Gavenčiak, Michal ; Mekyska, Jiří (referee) ; Zvončák, Vojtěch (advisor)
In the Czech Republic, there is currently no objective method to diagnose graphomotor difficulties in children. Ongoing research uses modern digitizers to capture the hand-writing process and quantify its parameters. The first goal of this thesis is to develop software tools to faciliate work with the collected data, such as database validation and writing exercise rating, done by specialists. Another goal of this thesis is to design new on-line handwriting parameters which are then to be analysed on a cohort of school children from 2nd to 4th class of primary school (n=239). The implementation of two desktop programs on the .NET platform is described, among three new quantifying parameters based on the principles of isochrony, two-dimensional cross-correlation, and geometrical centroid. All three parameters show significant correlation (r = [0,2; 0,3])with the HPSQ-C rating in 2nd- and 4th-graders and correlation (𝜌= [0,2; 0,5]) with specialist’s subjective scores in all children from the cohort. The analysis suggests children with graphomotor difficulties struggle with regulating handwriting speed and working memory.
Correlation Analysis Of Freezing Of Gait And Speech Disorders In Parkinson’S Disease
Galáž, Zoltán
This paper deals with the analysis of a relationship between freezing of gait (FOG) and hypokinetic dysarthria (HD) in Parkinson’s disease (PD). Experimental dataset consisted of 74 PD patients. We used freezing of gait questionnaire (FOG-Q) to characterize FOG in PD. The speech features that quantifies phonation, articulation and prosody was computed from the reading task composed of interrogative, imperative and indicative sentences. Using Spearman’s and Pearson’s correlation coefficients, we showed that reduced mobility of the articulatory organs in HD is significantly correlated with FOG in PD.
