Signature methods of the news reports processing and their application in television news

My thesis, based on a quantitative content analysis of a sample of television news by the "constructed fourteen days' in 2004, showed that displaying daily events with the help of intelligence narrative techniques helps lends to these sessions be told what is happening around us in different ways, even just through the use of other narrative techniques. Negative impacts of media fame

The main topic of the work is how Czech media inform about psychological problems of celebrities such as depression, manic depressive psychosis, addictive behavior, or suicide, and tries to answer the question of how much the media fame can affect these issues. The theoretical part summarizes concepts from media studies for better understanding media behaviors, for example media news selections process, concept of news values, the role of media in today's society and the difference between tabloid and serious media. From the psychological point of view, work summarizes the preconditions of psychological problems and their manifestations. It also provides brief pieces of information from official sources about lives and careers of selected celebrities. The second part of thesis is about analyzing the data, it means articles that informed about selected celebrities in connection with their psychological problems. The practical part is about finding there some common features and tendencies in media informing and also about showing differences between the ways of how tabloid and serious media present news. The result is the summary of how the media generally approach this issue, and after completing it with informations from an interview with a psychologist and some celebrities, it also outlines...
The Medial Portrait of Companies Providing Nonbank Loans

The main theme of this thesis is the non-banking- loans- companies and its medial portrait. The thesis formulates the basic hypotheses related to social status and reputation of non-banking companies. As the research method there was chosen the quantitative content analysis. The research sample consists of the daily papers Hospodářské noviny, MF DNES and some selected economic and political magazines. The research period was divided in two parts: March - June 2010 and September - December 2010. The thesis contents two analysis: the first one contents the results of surveys of the company called Provident Financial. The second one is an analysis of advertising in the daily papers MF DNES and Hospodářské noviny. The results of the analysis of advertising didn't confirm one of the main hypotheses assuming that the non-banking -loans- companies have any impact on the content of investigated media. And vice versa, other hypotheses were confirmed by results of the quantitative content analysis. The result of the analysis is that the non-banking-loans- companies are presented as companies working within the standards of law and which are entitled to a place in the financial market.
Press and internet news - differences and specifics on the example of Czech news websites and Czech national dailies

Diploma thesis "Press and internet news - differences and specifics" deals with differences between making news in printed and internet media. The thesis defines basic terms related to internet media, describes relation between press and internet media on the Czech media market. The thesis deals with question if internet falls within mass media. The thesis describes internet journalism and online media features and investigates how do the audience, content producers and products (including formats) of online media differ.
The specifics of communication in hookah community on Facebook

This thesis deals with the topic of how the members of online community of hookah smokers (hookah community) communicate. The core of the thesis lies in the quantitative content analysis of the content published in three hookah community Facebook groups. The results of the analysis are complemented with insight gained through semi-structured interviews conducted with seven members of the hookah community, using qualitative analysis. The first part of the thesis outlines the new media, describes basic terminology and concepts of social networks and marketing communication, provides an introduction into the topic of online communities, and describes hookahs, the hookah community, and the commercial entities involved in the hookah industry. The second part of the thesis describes the methodology of quantitative and qualitative research, presents the obtained findings, and provides their summary utilizing the knowledge presented in the theoretical part of the thesis. The thesis aims to describe and evaluate the current state of communication within the hookah community Facebook groups and map the presence of commercial communication in the analyzed content.
Medialization of Figure Skating during Events of Winter Olympic Games since 1990s

The submitted diploma thesis deals with presentations of figure skating at Winter Olympic Games from the 1990s to the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in two selected daily newspapers, and with ways in which the presentation of figure skating has changed within the analysed period. The first chapter presents sports journalism, its history and famous personalities, its text types and typical language, and characteristic features of a sport journalist. The second chapter presents the connection of sports and media, the concepts of agenda-setting, agenda-building and intermedia agenda, tabloidization and commercialization and ways in which news services work. The third chapter presents figure skating and figure skating events at the analysed Winter Olympic Games. The analysed media and changing paradigms of the media landscape are presented in the fourth chapter. The methodological basis used for the analyses is described in the fifth chapter. The sixth chapter presents the results of the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the newspaper articles. Furthermore, the interviews with two personalities of the Czech figure skating are analysed qualitatively. Social media as a source for journalists in Czech Republic

This Diploma Thesis are focused on social media as a tool for journalists in Czech republic. It contains two main parts - theoretical and practical. In theoretical part, social media are described in general, and Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are described in more details. This part is focused mostly on current trends in social media usage. Theoretical part is also focused on journalist's source problematic, primarily in internet era, and on source's credibility and verifiability. These trends are more described for media field in USA and Czech republic. Theoretical part introduce the newest available studies in social media and journalism field. Practical part is aiming to verify or deny these trends through quantitative analysis of media content, focused on usage of citations from social media as a relevant source for articles. Quantitative analysis is supported with e-mail questioning amongst czech journalist, who complete a context to this issue with their opinion. The research shows that journalists in Czech republic use social media daily for their work and they are following their colleagues from USA, so they use citations from social media more carefully and they verify their sources more.
