Recipes in the Květy Magazine and Their Transformations in the Era of Socialism

This thesis uses analytical tools of a qualitative nature, namely historical, content and linguistic analysis, to observe the elements, examples and manner of propaganda and its projection into culinary recipes in the Květy magazine between 1951 and 1989. It describes not only the transformation of the magazine's content and the related increase in the proportion of media content devoted to culinary recipes and related topics, but also the development of the recipes themselves, taking into account the use of ingredients. The thesis further treats findings such as the increasing share of carnivore recipes and places them in the economic and political context. It also focuses on the ways of regime propaganda projection into media content, which was manifested, for example, in recipes devoted to the cuisines of so-called "friendly" countries. Further, it focuses on the methods of how certain foods were promoted in the analysed period. It explains why such content disappears in times of prosperity and reappears in times of scarcity. It also explores why certain food can be encountered in particular segments of the studied period. Czech food blogosphere and its development

The thesis deals with the Czech food blogosphere and its development. It describes food studies and theoretical disciplines which had participated on the development. It presents current trends of online gastronomy. It defines blogs with the short note of the Web 2.0, describes their history. Also mentions the authors of the blogs as online influencers who might influence own readers and their opinions. It is followed by the history of foreign and Czech food blogs with their main representatives. Commercial possibility of blog and professionalism of bloggers is also mentioned. Part of the thesis presents the external and internal motivations to write blog. Shortly, the thesis describes the critism of food blogs and also the plagiarism issues. The thesis presents the future of blogging as well. The conducted qualitative research is based on six semi-structured interviews with food bloggers and deals with their opinions of the Czech food blogosphere and creating and maintaining the blogs. It researches their motivation to write and tries to find out the positive and negative aspect of blogging and presumed development of Czech food blogs.
The history of communication of Skoda Plzeň 1918-1945

The thesis describes the communication of the Škoda Plzeň brand between 1918 and 1945. During this period, Škoda was the largest industrial enterprise in Czechoslovakia and its products were equal to those offered by foreign competitors. The thesis covers the company's history from its foundation by Emil Škoda in 1869 up till 1945. This Bachelor's thesis also mentions the biggest personalities of the firm: Emil Škoda and Karel Loevenstein, the pioneer of modern management and promotional methods at the company. Furthermore, the thesis follows the Škoda company in the context of the society from the end of the First World War up till the beginning of World War II. The largest part of the thesis is a section that covers the company's communication, promotion and marketing strategies, especially during the first Czechoslovak Republic, because this period was - in terms not only of the progress of promotion - the most fruitful period for the company. Czech language style of television advertising of the new millenium on the example of the T-Mobile's media campaign This bachelor thesis deals with the contemporary language style of Czech advertising on the example of brand communication/ advertising campaign of T-Mobile. The work is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical block introduces the context of advertising and shows the characteristics of advertising messages and language of advertising discourse. The focus is on the practical part which analyzes the advertising media campaign of T-Mobile and other operators published in the television from January 2012 to May 2013. The work observes the typical advertising characteristic of T-Mobile and deals with comparison of communication of T-Mobile with other operators.
Contemporary media image of Škoda Favorit vehicle

The present thesis deals with the contemporary media image of Škoda Favorit vehicle. The study is based on the journals of that time. The theoretical part is devoted to the historical context, including economic situation and description of media functions, which changed together with political regime. Furthermore, it put us in touch with history of Škoda company, closer also with developing and selling of Škoda Favorit and with the personality of Ing. Petr Hrdlička, CSc., who was in charge of the vehicle development. The second part deals with analysis of the media articles connected to the topic. Work closer elaborates events, which are thematically important, it means the performance of the vehicle in Brno expo, the start of selling the car, the completion of car bodywork development building in Mladá Boleslav, the international performance on Amsterdam motor show, the departure of Ing. Petr Hrdlička, CSc., the joining of the car company with Volkswagen concern, the facelift of the car and the end of the production of Škoda Favorit basic type.
Media image of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in the chosen Czech dailies

The Bachelor thesis on "Media image of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in the chosen Czech dailies" is aimed at finding out how the royal wedding was presented to the readers of the three most read Czech daily newspapers, which are Blesk, Mladá fronta DNES and Právo, the further description of the selected Czech newspapers is also the part of the thesis together with the brief profile of the Czech mass media background. As the elaborated part of the wedding was taken the period before the wedding ceremony (15. - 29. April 2011) and two weeks after the wedding (30. April - 14. May 2011). The analysis itself, which is based on combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, precedes the theoretical introduction to the basic field terminology which is connected with the content of the thesis and brief account of the details about the royal wedding, such as biographical facts about the fiancé/newly-weds, mass media view on the wedding arrangements and the wedding day. The observed mass media view is then summarized into constituent parts after each observed sequence that is subsequently concluded in the end of the thesis.
Gastronomy as a part of life style in the Czech national print media in the period between the wars in Czechoslovak Republic

The doctoral thesis Gastronomy as a part of life style in the Czech national print media in the period between the wars in Czechoslovak Republic presents the results of eight years long research of food journalism in the Czech press between 1918 and 1938. This period called First Republic is often seen, due the positive sentiment, as a modern, democratic and prosperous state. The reality is a different. This text presents just a little part of picture of life style during First Republic which is gastronomy. That mirrors the economic and social level of the society. This text reflects critically the historical facts. The assumption, that print media pay regularly attention to the gastronomy as an integral part of life is important idea of this research. The content analysis proofs, that food journalism had its own section in the analyzed daily print, although media didn't used this kind of terminology. Five national newspapers (Lidové noviny, Národní politika, České slovo, Právo lidu and Venkov) were issued in the period 1918-1938 and newspapers Rudé právo established 1920 are included in the analysis. This diploma thesis deals with food blogs as a current phenomenon. The theoretical part first brings a look at the historical context and development that preceded the existence of blogs. It focuses on communication, media and the Internet. It also offers definitions of these key and related terms and theoretical background that are needed to understand the context. Subsequently, the work discusses journalism and the position of blogs in this field. It continues with a detailed elaboration of the topic of blogs. It analyzes their historical context in our country and in the world, defines concepts, distinguishes types of blogs, draws attention to the pitfalls of blogging, deals with etiquette and laws, presents current trends and surveys, addresses authors - bloggers and their motivation, the position of bloggers towards journalists, the expected future and influencers. Discourse Analysis of Selected Czech Food Blogs

The diploma thesis deals with the characteristics of the discourse of selected Czech food blogs. On the one hand the food blogs, which are considered here as part of the media content, have common features with other culinary discourses, on the other hand they have their specifics, which are given mainly by their multimodal nature. The theoretical part therefore introduces the culinary discourse, as well as the phenomenon of blogging, which was made possible with the advent of the Internet and web services. The thesis then presents a brief food blogs history and previous foreign research, that dealt with the characteristics of the food blogs language. Qualitative analysis of discourse, which was used for the food blogs analysis in the research part of the thesis, focuses on common language and formal features of food blogs, discourses of individual authors and the most common topics that food blogs contain. The research material was selected based on the results of the last year of the Food blog roku competition. These are contributions from three popular Czech food blogs, which were published on blogs in the first half of 2019. These contributions were subjected to an in-depth analysis, the results of which are subsequently presented in the thesis.
Instagram as a means of spreading trends in gastronomy with a focus

This diploma thesis discusses Instagram as a means for spreading trends in gastronomy with a focus on gastronomy and related trends in the field specifically from the Czech Republic. The author tries to map the influences that the online environment can have on their formation, especially the social network Instagram. After a thorough acquaintance with the environment of social networks, the social network Instagram, its influence on the spread of experiences, trends and the media environment in general, is described in more detail. The author seeks to clarify whether what is happening on this network can guide the direction of what is popular in the gastronomic environment, understand the role that well-watched creators from Instragram play in society and what it means for ordinary users to share food experiences. "Influential" users from the gastronomic sphere on Czech Instagram and their further connection with the media environment are presented. In the research, the author determines, via the form of a structured questionnaire (which was attended by 1143 respondents from the environment of social networks), what role Instragram plays in spreading gastronomic trends in the Czech Republic.
