Czech Philharmonic Children's Choir - the new PR strategy in media

This bachelor thesis focuses on the Czech Philharmonic Children's Choir and its Public Relations strategy. Using the content analysis method, the thesis tries to prove that the management (which came to office in late 2011) had a significant impact on the choir's image in media. The research then shows that the new strategy only improved the quantity of information provided by the media within the same number of articles.
Signiíficance of the moderator and television studio backround in TV show otázky Václava Moravce

This thesis is focused on analysis of political television show Otázky Václava Moravce. It is particularly focused on the period one year before and one year after the territorial change of the broadcasting studio which occured in the summer 2015. Firstly, through a quantitative analysis the change in the guest composition of the show is examined. Using the method of qualitative analysis it consequently captures fundamental semiotical elements of the studio and describes the role of the moderator in broadcasting. It also deals with moderator's rhetoric and the way in which his bias is expressed. The thesis sets out influences affecting final media release, among others socially-political background of the guests and influence of the studio and the moderator. Its aim is a comparison of these influences and possible explanation of the change that occured in the show Otázky Václava Moravce.
Educational programs ČT:D Nauč tetu na netu and Pirátské vysílání

This thesis examines the content of TV series for children called Nauč tetu na netu and Pirátské vysílání broadcoasted on public channel for kids Déčko. The programs are designed for children in age range from 8 to 12 years and its purpose is to increase their media literacy in entertaining way. This thesis consists of three parts. The first part is theoretical and it is focused on the characteristics of TV channel ČT:D, media literacy, media education, Framework Education Program and Recommended Expected Outputs in area of media literacy. The second part elabores other TV educational series dedicated to media. In empirical part the main emphasis is put on the content of the series and features of the programs, its structure and main characters. Qualitative analysis investigates the content of each episode with emphasis on media themes and its relation to Recommended Expected Outputs for media literacy for children from 8 to 12 years old.
Children and Advertiswing as a part of Theoretical Research

This bachelor thesis is about the influence of advertising on children of 6 - 8 years of age. Advertising targeted on children is frequent subject of long-lasting discussion across the whole society. This discussion is mostly about television advertising, which is still the strongest medium on market - part of the thesis is focused on introduction to basic media types. Focus of the thesis is how television advertising influence children, how they are capable, or not capable, to understand it, since what age they are able to critically evaluate advertising messages and from what age they are capable to understand the goals and purpose of media. Children, as specific and very easy to influence group are constantly talked to by media. Thesis, besides other analyses psychical evolution of children with focus on modern era of 21st century. The goal of the thesis is to understand and help navigate in quite difficult topic. Many different foreign, as well as Czech studies were made on this topic already. The focus of empirical part is to analyse and compare results of these studies made in last 10 years. In conclusion, all analysed studies are summarised together with recommendation.
Media image of changes at Wencelslas square in the conzext of urbanism and architectuaral quality

Primary objective of master's thesis named Media image of changes at Wenceslas Square in the context of urbanism and architectural quality is to analyse the media coverage of important architectural and urban changes of Wenceslas Square between 1997 and 2015. The two main topics chosen for the analysis are the Revitalisation of Wenceslas Square and the development of Euro Palace. The purpose of the analysis is to answer the following question: "Do readers of generally oriented periodicals have an access to objective information about architectural and urban projects?" I will apply a quantitative content analysis to answer this question and prove that media contents are unbiased. After that, we would be able to say in case of Prague the architectural topics are covered enough and readers have a chance to form their own opinions or not.
Contemporary press of polish national minority in the Czech republic

Author of this thesis elaborates the topic of current Polish minority press in the Czech Republic through the media studies view. The thesis describes current structure of the Polish-language press in the Czech Republic. Part of the work consists of content analysis of periodicals Głos Ludu (Voice of the People) and Zwrot (Turnover). These periodicals are playing an important part in the process of emancipation and cultural life of the Polish minority, and thus represent a very specific segment of the Czech media environment. The Role of Media in Eeveryday Life of Contemporary Early Teenagers

This bachelor thesis investigates the influence of media communication channels on students in elementary schools, mainly from the point of view how the media influence is perceived by the students themselves. In the introductory part the thesis presents key theoretical findings from selected literature related to the chosen theme and the paradigms issuing from theoretical research, mainly in the field of television broadcasting impact on the selected age category and on its capacity to notice the media impact by itself. In order to set the theme in the appropriate context the paper also introduces specialized terms, theories on the media impact and an overview of the current level of media education in families and schools. The empirical segment, which is the main part of this thesis, explains in thorough detail the preparation, execution and outcome of the research questionnaire applied on two Prague elementary schools. The questionnaire was applied on students from the 5th to the 9th grade. The quantitative research measurement, which was calibrated to confirm or infirm the research hypotheses, often confirms the previous theoretical findings and results of earlier research by quoted specialists. The television series Wifina in the context of media literacy and education through media

This diploma thesis is an addition to the discussion on media literacy development, which also deals with the effectiveness of children's education via a television program. The work offers a brief content overview of public broadcasting television channel ČT:D, focusing on shows that enlighten the viewers about facts from various fields (which are thus regarded educational). The television program Wifina is described in detail and is the center of later research. The first part of this document defines the factors that affect reception of information from television broadcast. The thesis introduces different variations of key media literacy concepts, including the specific way they are handled in the Czech setting. The objective of this work is to determine, whether the show Wifina enhances development of media literacy through its content, and whether this content helps to broaden general knowledge and education of the viewers. Based on content analysis of the program and subsequent qualitative comparative analysis of two groups of children - viewers and non-viewers - the author ascertains, whether Wifina educates its viewers about media-related subjects, as well as other areas. The thesis "Monument as the materialization of memory in relation to the current generation and the role of the media" is devoted to the analysis of media discourse of contemporary memorials. The discourse of contemporary memorials is represented in the thesis by media coverage in the Czech periodical printed media regarding to two memorials installed in the Czech Republic. The first is a monument of General Patton in Pilsen and the second is a monument of the Czechoslovak RAF aviators in Prague - Klárov. Examined media coverage related to memorial scandal in Deník VLP, Mladá fronta DNES, Lidové noviny, Blesk, Metro, Haló noviny and Právo belong to the years: 2005, 2009, 2010, 2014 and 2015. The form of contemporary memorial discourse was examined with the help of multiple methods including quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis represented by textual and argumentative analysis. Based on the combination of the mentioned methods basic form of the discourse of contemporary memorials was described with the main focus on media communication containing the topic of foreign affairs and the concept of memory.
