The Singing Fountain in The Royal Garden of The Prague castle

This work follows three main questions, which will allow a deeper appreciation of art historical monument. At first, there is a concise story of rulers, which donated fountain. In the next part, the work gives ideas of the original context of the installation of the bronze fountain in the architecture of the Royal Garden at the Prague Castle in the third quarter of the 16th century. The artistic description with historical sources presents the monument as the result of the work of artists associated around the royal gunsmith Tomas Jaros of Brno. In the closing section attempts to draw attention to the potential non-European cultural influence in the creation of artwork. Compared fanciful figures on the fountain with bells of the late 16th century, attempts to document the gradual domestication of a particular theme used on the Habsburg court before the arrival of Rudolf II. Secondary question will present conservation of the artwork.

Zavis cross from Cistercian abbey Vyšší Brod Abstract Zavis cross from Cistercian abbey Vyšší Brod Zavis cross has been the national cultural monument of the Czech republic since 2010. Not only is Zavis cross a great example of medieval goldsmith's art, but also a reliquary of particle of the Holy Cross. The reliquary cross was restored in the eighties of the last century, so today we can admire it in this form. The aim of this work is to collect existing results of artistic and historical research focused on the origin of this reliquary as well as to characterize artistic and craft processes of Zavis cross and with emphasis on used materials introduces its as a Splendor Mysticus-visibility eternal light of truth.

The Astwerk like late gothic natural decor in Bohemian lands with international kontext Abstract The diploma thesis presents introduction to problems of naturalistic dekor and use of the motif cut branches / astwerk in Bohemian lands. The focus will be primarily using in the field of sculpture of stone. There will be explained starting area use of astwerk decor, way to the Bohemian lands and Moravia, followed by the development of a retreat in the context of the Renaissance. After a critical review of the literature the work will indicate a chapter on cultural-historical context. The situation in the Bohemian lands after the Hussite wars will be introduced, when in insecure religious circumstances was chosen King Vladislav Jagiello in Kutna Hora, and so begins a new period of prosperity of the country again. Mentioned also will be his representative program in response to Charles IV. Soon Vladislav Jagiello also became King of Hungary and change the new seat to Buda. The influence of the character of the change should be noted. Above it is meant unbroken artistic production and later inspiration the early Renaissance form. This Master Thesis "The animals in the cathedral. Architectural sculpture of animals and fantastical creatures by parlerian lodge in the St. Vitus Cathedral, their symbols and iconography" looks into the architectural sculpture of animal's motifs and motifs of fantastical Creatures. The goal of this work is to summarize recent aspects of research about this theme, explain in more detail individually motifs of animal's and their Iconography and their meaning for Cathedral of St. Vitus. Also this thesis want to explain how could this special animal's motifs fit into the places, where are they have been situated. Their Iconography is taken with larger perspective, by literature's reception from antique over czech medieval age. Concerning animals and fantastic Creatures in the southern vestibule - pelican and phoenix; an owl in the Crown Chamber; gryphon and fight between cat and dog in the inner triforium; an eagle, an unicorn, a horse with bird's legs, a phoenix, a pelican, a stag, a lion, a gryphon, a lioness, a bear, a "cat" and three chimera in the outer triforium; a lion, a dog, a dragon and an eagle in buttresses and at least a dragon and a goat on the Big Tower. Maria Anna of Savoy and chateau Ploskovice

Annotation: The present thesis is dedicated to the former Czech queen and Austrian Empress Maria Anna of Savoy (1803-1884) and the location of her frequent visits, Northern Bohemia's castle of Ploskovice. Anna Marie and her husband Ferdinand V (1793-1875) chose the castle as their summer residence after the Emperor's abdication in 1848. In order to properly represent the dignity of the former ruler of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine, both outside and inside, it was necessary to adjust the palace significantly in quite a short time, which was successfully realised in the spirit of contemporary rococo style by Czech artists and craftsmen. The individual chapters of the thesis deal with the life story of Anne Marie and the changes of castle Ploskovice - its history, reconstructions, facilities and decorations, especially from the perspective of history of art.
Liturgical applied art designs in the work of Josef Fanta

Abstract The theme of this diploma work, that came out partly from the preceding bachelor work, which was dedicated to the art nuovo decor in Prague ecclesiastical milieu, is Josef Fanta's (1856-1954) designs for ecclesiastical purpose in the field of applied art, which have never been published so far. Josef Fanta is mainly known only as an architect, author of the Prague Central Station building and has never been studied in more details. The main aim of this diploma paper is trying to evaluate the almost 100 years lasting life and work. The chosen segment of his wide creative activities, ornamenta ecclesiae - liturgical textile and equipment, is suprisingly plentiful group including number of prestigious orders. Pictures of the All Saint Church on Prague Castle

The subject of bachelor thesis is painted decorations of collegiate church of Panna Marie and church All Saints church at Prague Castle (next only the All Saints Church). The introduction is dedicated to the chapel itself. It is followed by description and art - historical evaluation of the local paintings. This part of work monitors origins of the paintings, it deals with the artists and the buyers, iconography and also adjustments and changes in placement of the paintings. Although we can find there paintings from major domestic and foreign artists of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, namely from Hans von Aachen (1551/52-1615), Charles Dorigny (1534-1551), Václav Vavřinec Reiner (1689-1743) and Kristian Šebastián Dittmann from Lavenstein (1639-1701), these paintings have not been properly evaluated yet. It is the purpose of this work to focus entirely on the painting rather than aiming the architecture and cultural history. First exhibitions of the industrial goods in Bohemia between the years 1754 and 1836

The thesis will focus on the first exhibitions of the industrial goods in Bohemia between the years 1754 and 1836. In every one of the chronologically sorted chapters, including each exhibition, it will focus on themes such as the changeover between manufactures and the industrial production, the role of craftsmen, the role of the emperor and aristocracy supporting the Czech industry, the foundation of Unity for the development of the Bohemian industry. The thesis is also focused on finding the subjects, which were displayed on the first exhibitions.
Development Gothic supporting system

The diploma thesis deals with the development of Gothic supporting system. In particular, chronologically arranged chapters are given examples of individual buildings, which are grouped into chapters according to their geographical location. Starting with the first supporting systems, as well as the Gothic style in France, we come to the spread of new ideas into neighboring countries such as England, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and the Czech Republic. Next chapter is devoted to the supreme form of the support system using the example of the cathedral in Amiens and Cologne. Whole work closes chapter devoted to St. Vitus Cathedral, as a leading work of Peter Parler with a detailed description of the support system of the high choir and transept.
