This Master's thesis deals with question of the development of self-checking polymorphic circuits. It deals with a traditional way of creating reliable and self-checking circuits, presenting basic principles and methods. Also a method of Cartesian Genetic Programming for development of combinational circuits is explained. This thesis describes concepts of polymorphic gates and circuits and their benefits in practical use. Some existing self-checking polymorphic circuits are presented and their self-checking capabilities are analyzed. A proposal of realization of a design system for self-checking polymorphic circuits is given. A design system has been built based on presented specification and an application allowing simulations and analysis of system-proposed solutions has been created. Variety of experiments have been performed at created system and several interesting solutions have been acquired. At the end, conclusion is given and benefits of MSc. project are discussed.
Miocene fish fauna from the Cheb and Sokolov Basins: taxonomic overview and palaeoecology
Hakalová, Pavla ; Přikryl, Tomáš (advisor) ; Mazuch, Martin (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to present an overview of Miocene fish fauna of the lacustrine sediments in the Cheb and Sokolov Basins, geological settings of this area, and fish associations in individual biozones. Sediments of Cheb and Sokolov Basins were deposited during time interval from Eocene until Miocene in the subtropical zone of the North hemisphere. Volcanic and post-volcanic activities of the Ohárecký rift influenced development of these basins. It's possible define two time sections within development of these basins: early and later; both of them provide rich record of fossil fishes. For the early period of the development is typical smaller range of the lake and its shallow depth. The relicts of this stage are limited to Cheb Basin mainly. Fish fossil record is limited, with three species only: Esox sp., Palaeotinca egeriana and Leuciscus (Palaeoleuciscus) socoloviensis. Low fish diversity could have been affected by poor living conditions or lower taxonomic diversity in general during this time. The later developmental period was much longer. The lake was much bigger - it spread to Sokolov Basin also. The fish fauna diversity is much higher, including taxons Paleotinca egariana, Leuciscus (Palaeoleuciscus) socoloviensis, Aphanius chebianus, Paralebias egeranus and Gobius sp. It is...
Scientific reconstruction of theropod dinosaurs
Cettl, Karel ; Mazuch, Martin (advisor) ; Marek, Jaroslav (referee)
To create a good scientific reconstruction is important artistic skills and knowledge of history painting of prehistoric animals, and also knowlages in the anatomy, zoology, palaeontology, palaeoecology. Reconstruction of theropods dinosaurs became the royal discipline of professional illustration. It stands on the borderline between art and science. Our view on theropod dinosaurs has changed over time with advancing skeletal findings, and also changed a scientific reconstruction. Keywords: theropods, scientific reconstruction, anatomy structure, palaeoecology, Carnotaurus sastrei.
Draft inventory and cataloging of stored samples Chlupáč's museum of Earth History
Drahný, Stanislav ; Mazuch, Martin (advisor) ; Ekrt, Boris (referee)
Abstract For Chlupáčovo muzeum historie Země (Chlupač's museum of Earth History) is prepared many changes in the near future. Most of them should be combined with parts of the deosit. This work was written as a guide, which could be taken into account for these variations. It should sere as a fully functional guide to the new tagged artefacts, a new systém of storage of these items and their ease of traceability of storage space. There are also compared to similar institutions dealing with these issues and describe their...
Evolution of Eurasian mammoths during the Quaternary with a focus on adaptations related to climate change
Bhija, Amín ; Mazuch, Martin (advisor) ; Čermák, Stanislav (referee)
The main purpose of this work is to summarize the changing functional morphology of Eurasian mammoths throughout the Pleistocene, along with a short summarization of the Pleistocene environments of Eurasia. Dietary habits of mainland European mammoths are also be described, as the dental morphology and microwear analysis of mammoth teeth is often used as an environmental indicator. The transition between early mammoths such as Mammuthus rumanus, Mammuthus meridionalis and more derived grassland mammoths such as Mammuthus trogontherii and Mammuthus primigenius is illustrated through morphological adaptations and a change in their diet.
Revision of historical ichthyosaur fossils (Ichthyosauria, Reptilia) in the collections of the Chlupáč's Museum of Earth History
Rollingerová, Nicola ; Mazuch, Martin (advisor) ; Chroust, Milan (referee)
The presented thesis deals with ichthyosaur fossils in the collections of the Chlupač Museum of the History of the Earth (hereafter CHMHZ). Specifically, these are five original specimens originating from the areas of Holzmaden, Germany (four specimens in total) and Hallein, Austria (one specimen). The main goal of the work is a detailed description and identification of all five original specimens. At the same time, this work answers the question whether the original determination of the fossils corresponds to the current systematics of this group. The work also pays attention to the geology of the areas from which the fossils come, the paleobiology of these animals and the current form of their phylogeny and systematics. This work finds that the original identification of the fossils in most cases does not correspond to the current systematics and proposes a new classification for three of the five specimens. All specimens from the Holzmaden site (4 in total) belong to the genus Stenopterygius and are represented by two species: S. quadriscissus (3 specimens) and S. uniter (1 specimen). The fossil from Hallein is in extremely poor condition, so its assignment is based on geographic and stratigraphic data. In this case, the specimen remains in the original genus classification: Mixosaurus.
Development of the climate during the Miocene based on the study of reptilian associations in northwest Bohemia
Chroust, Milan ; Mazuch, Martin (advisor) ; Zajíc, Jaroslav (referee) ; Sabol, Martin (referee)
The PhD thesis is about fossil crocodiles and turtles from the Most basin and their implication in paleoclimatic and paleoecological reconstruction. The thesis is composed of accompanying text together with four separate scientific papers included in the attachment. Dozens of bony fragments, which belong to fossil crocodiles and turtles, are known from the Most basin (NW Bohemia, Czechia). Surprisingly, the high biodiversity of fossil turtles was revealed. According to a study of fossil crocodiles and turtles we are able to reconstruct the ancient landscape (i.e., ecosystems), mean annual temperatures together with the extremes in summer and winter periods. However, for the proper reconstruction of paleotemperatures, the taxonomic description is mandatory. Fossil crocodiles and turtles lack the systematic review, while they are in fact the most abundant material compared to other fossil vertebrates (i.e., mammals, birds, etc.). Crocodylian material belongs to the genus Diplocynodon and thanks to the cranial material from the Tušimice site, we are able to describe it as Diplocynodon ratelii. The soft-shell turtles (Trionychinae) from the Břešťany site are described as Rafetus bohemicus including the new diagnostic characters. Another trionychid material is for now impossible to determine at the...
Overview of the family Deinotheriidae C.L. Bonaparte, 1841 [Mammalia, Proboscidea] with direction to fossil discoveries in Czech Republic.
Šmejkal, Roman ; Mazuch, Martin (advisor) ; Wagner, Jan (referee)
This work presents the family Deinotheriidae including the subfamily Chilgatherinae. Morphological differences of teeth point to anatomical differences between the genders Chilgatherium, Prodeinotherium and Deinotherium. Further, the anatomical differences of skull and postcranial skeleton of the Deinotherinae subfamily are described. The Extension of the family Deinotherium is tied to the migration routes from Africa to Asia and Europe. The Occurrence in the Czech Republic is confirmed by 2 important discovery sites. The first one is located in Horní Ves near Franzensbad where the skeleton of the species Prodeinotherium bavaricum was discovered. The second one is located near Česká Třebová and represented by the fragments of the lower jaw of the species Prodeinotherium cuvieri. The discussion focuses on the use of the lower tusks and the method of food intake.
Quaternary evolution of horses in CR
Rákosová, Veronika ; Mazuch, Martin (advisor) ; Nývltová Fišáková, Miriam (referee)
Large family of Equidae is one of the most explored species of big mammals of the last geological periods. However, its research is focused primary on the early species and their evolution. Holocenic and especially pleistocenic horses are researched poorly although they are important for quartenary paleoecologic reconstructions. The youngest ancestors of modern horses have had big role in formalization of up-to-date breeds which are worldwide expanded, except Antarctica, despite of fact that their wild forms has become extinct.
