Gleaning, trash picking, scavenging: Dumpster diving and symbolic boundaries between clean and unclean

The author deals with the phenomenon of dumpster diving. Being focused on those divers who are used to dumpster dive not being pressed to it by their financial situation, she concentrates on their definition of purity and their way of dealing with symbolic boundaries of clean and unclean. After summarising social-environmental and social scientific background of the phenomenon in context of the theoretical frame based on Mary Douglas and her book about purity and danger the author presents a qualitative analysis of participant observation and in- depth interviews with informants who dumpster dive voluntarily. Based on quantitatively and representatively tested public opinion on dumpster diving she points both the colourful composition of dumpster divers' motives and ideological believes and their reflection and norm- based boundaries categorization that is connected to food they are used to eat. In connection with informants' conception of food value the author argues that through inspiring power of the first dumpster diving experience informants' understanding and dealing with those boundaries have changed. Individual and social contexts of dawnward social mobility

The author deals with the phenomenon of individual and social contexts of downward social mobility. She focuses on cases of families with at least one college educated parent whose children did not follow their parents in college education attainment. After defining terms such as social status, social mobility, capital and social reproduction that are key for later analysis, she summarizes previous researches of social mobility and educational inequalities. Thereafter she presents a qualitative analysis of gained interviews with ten respondents. This research has been done by methods of grounded theory that enable to uncover contexts of the analysed phenomenon. The author argues that the phenomenon in general, according to the analysis, is not a problem. It is understood as a problem only after it has been set into the context of the social situation in which the phenomenon occurs. According to the analysis the children of college educated parents do use and develop their abilities gained by socialization and upbringing by college educated parents. Nevertheless, these children do not develop their abilities in the formal system of education that is commonly conceived as the best educational institution. The influence of project based learning on students' attitudes to instruction

The dissertation is focused on changes in an attitude and initiative students at secondary special school with gastronomy orientation to study special subjects after realization a creative project: "Welcome Day - Day of Open Door - Halloween." The target group are students of Secondary School and College for Tourist Industry in České Budějovice. The dissertation is divided into fifth chapters. I the first two chapters different opinions of experts in teaching methods, classical and alternative methods of education and teaching, teachers competence and authority participation, experimental education are compared. The thirds chapter contains proposals for topics of project learning in schools with gastronomy orientation. There is an enumeration of folk traditions and their connection with the culture and gastronomy. The fourth chapter describes the project realization in Secondary School and College for Tourist Industry in České Budějovice. The fifth chapter contains the research targets, the research methods and interpretation of research results. The target of the dissertation is questionnaire comparison of students' attitudes after realization the project learning. The research assumptions are that students appreciate extension special subjects of folk traditions and do not reject to participation in the pro?ject realization.
Discipline at vocation gastronomic school

Bachelor thesis is focused on the problems of disciplin at teachings at secondary special school with gastronomy orientation. Target group is teachers and pupils of Secondary School and College for Tourist Industry in České Budějovice. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part various points of view of specialists on the concept of disciplin at teachings, competence and authority of a teacher are compared. In the practical part, aims of research, methods of research and interpretation of observed results are appointed. In the result, these assumptions were confirmed.
