Analysis of meaning in life as well-being determinant of Faculty of Education students

This diploma thesis is based on concepts of positive psychology and deals with the topic of well-being. The approaches of positive psychology and development of this psychological specialization as well as the concept of well-being are presented in the first part of the thesis. In addition to the Harvard approach to well-being, special attention is paid to the new theory of well-being, which was created by Martin Seligman and expended by Scott I. Donaldson and Stewart I. Donaldson. Specifically, this thesis focuses on well-being of a specific group, which is university students. Not only subjective well-being, but first of all meaning in life are analysed in focus on university students. Meaning in life is the main topic of this diploma thesis. The research part is based on questionnaire survey focused on the well-being of students of the Faculty of Education of Charles University, which took place at the turn of 2022 and 2023 as part of a big university research focused on the well-being of students (Kočí, 2023). The analysis of the obtained data shows a close connection between subjective well-being and the area of meaning in life. Retirement home in Rozsochatec 1952-1956

This diploma thesis is a microhistorical case study into the field of regional history. It examines the work of the state institutional social care facility - Retirement home in the village Rozsochatec, where the nursing staff cared for the elderly and non-independent people. The staff consisted of nuns of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and several laical helpers between 1952 and 1956. Moreover, the daily life was shaped by the presence of the Roman Catholic priest, as well as by the constant supervision of the district church secretary. The main purpose of this work is an insight into the everydayness of this specific social facility - medical and nursing care, supplying, meals, hygiene, home cleaning and, last but not least, leisure time, spiritual and political life inside the Retirement home are explored. In addition, the work deals with individual actors (social groups) and the chateau building in the village Rozsochatec, in which the social care institution was located. It describes the relationship of the socialist state to the nuns after 1948 and portray one small religious community. The portrayal of post-war Germany in the novel District court by Ursula Krechel

This bachelor thesis deals with the novel District court (Landgericht) by the contemporary German writer Ursula Krechel, who introduces a life story of one German family in the period from the thirties to the seventies in the 20th century in this book. The fact, that the father has a Jewish origin fatally affects the fate of all the family members. Even though the story is a fiction, its historical background is real and supported by authentic material, which the author often cites. The first part of this bachelor thesis introduces the writer, analyses the title, time, places, style of narration, language and composition. It follows a summary of the story, a characterization of the main characters and an outline of their life stories. It deals then with the important themes in the novel - problems of the partnership, collapse of the family and loss of the identity. The result of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of this literary work, which answers the research question, how the postwar Germany is portrayed in the novel District court. Sdružení Ackermann-Gemeinde in Prague

This bachelor thesis deals with the Christian organization Sdružení Ackermann- Gemeinde, which was created as an independent institution in Prague in December 1998. It followed the tradition of the Sudeten German Ackermann-Gemeinde and began to work in the field of Czech-German relations. The chosen topic is particularly important because no expert attention was paid to this organization and for that reason Sdružení Ackermann-Gemeinde is not mentioned in the secondary literature. Mostly primary sources were used during the writing of this thesis. The historical development of Czech-German relations from the perspective of the Catholic Church in the 20th century is outlined in the first part of the thesis. Subsequently the work focuses on the formation and the workings of Ackermann-Gemeinde in Germany, founded by expelled Germans in 1946, including its two branches in Rome and Prague. In the second part of the thesis there is the existence of Sdružení Ackermann-Gemeinde in Prague studied from various perspectives ranging from the preparations preceding the establishing of the organization, through the analysis of the articles of the association, to the important personalities who engaged in activities of this organization.
