The mental strain and stress management strategies of the Czech police members in the South Bohemia Region
HOUDEK, Tomáš
The bachelor thesis "Mental strain and the strategies how to deal with stress by Police members in the South Bohemia region in the Czech Republic", follows up mental strain and stress causing by working environment. I have used a questionnaire survey for finding out the most using strategies how to deal with stress and the working strain evaluation. The bachelor thesis is divided into the theoretical and the empirical part. The theoretical one represents the basic theoretical knowledge of mental strain, stress, resistance, follows up to the strategies how to deal with stress, including possible impact of its influence. The essential part of the theoretical section applies to the research file, where you can find the brief characteristic of the Police of the Czech Republic relevant departments, and possible danger factors affecting the mental strain origin at the Police of the Czech Republic members during carrying out their working duties. The empirical part deals with the data processing gained by the questionnaire "The mental strain strategies SVF-78" and the Meister questionnaire evaluating working strain. I have used 82 questionnaires to final processing from the total amount of one hundred questionnaires. I have formulated two hypotheses out of consideration to gained results, in which case the final discussion sum up the possible limits of the research that could get to the influencing of the gained data.
Instruments and human beings: Freedom and the limitation of Universal Darwinism
Houdek, Tomáš ; Novák, Aleš (advisor) ; Marek, Jakub (referee)
The object of this essay is to point out the possibility and options of human freedom in relation to neo-darwinistic conception of human beings, especially in relation to the principle of universal Darwinism, which creates space for the concept of "dual human evolution" - evolution of genes and memes (corresponding with biological and cultural determinants). In this context, human is considered the "tool of replicators." The essay presents possible freedom of man as undeniable fact -evident or not, always present as possible way of acting. In connection with the work of Kant and Arendt, the author defines freedom as a concept, which coincides with the term "humanity". This provides an opportunity to present man as "twofold" being: "natural", determined by biological and cultural influences, and "human" in the context of freedom. This point of view allowes the definition of human nature. In this context, the phrase "human nature" is contradictio in adjecto. Human being is a being determined (by nature and culture) and free.
Crime relating to the abuse of addictive substances
Houdek, Tomáš ; Vokoun, Rudolf (advisor) ; Herczeg, Jiří (referee)
69 Resumé/Summary Crime relating to the abuse of addictive substances My diploma thesis tries to provide compedious information about non-alcoholic drugs and law problems connected with them. The biggest attention I dedicate to hempen substances - marihuana and hashish as, after alcohol and tobacco, the commonest abused drug in the world. Legal analysis is necessarily accompanied by historical, sociological and medical research which exposes the complexity of antidrug legislation. After the very beginning, where I explain few important terms (drug, addiction), follows the basic division of these substances upon general specification of their effects and risk of uprise of addiction, eventually other health comlications. Next chapters belong to hemp (cannabis) - its description, occurrence, method of use (as a drug, healing herb and also industrial raw material) etc. Crime relating to the abuse of addictive substances is a main issue of the chapter 3. Next chapter pursues the development of drug laws in our country (util now) with the necessary introduction in the form of international regulation - international conventions on drugs - as its part. Within the framework of this chapter I pay particular attention to §187a and §188a which cause the most controversy of the current drug legislation. Contemplation...
Human in the light of science
Houdek, Tomáš ; Novák, Aleš (advisor) ; Chavalka, Jakub (referee) ; Prázný, Aleš (referee)
The paper thematizes the concept of science in mid- and late thinking of Friedrich Nietzsche in the context of his understanding of scientific cognition of both: human and its world. The study introduces the problem of science and cognition in general in connection with significant motives of Nietzsche's thinking: morality, the revaluation of all values, thinking and living "beyond good and evil", freedom, human body, the superhuman motive, ascetic ideals, and more. Emphasis is put on the problem of veracity in the context of Nietzsche's attitude to idealism. Keywords Human; Superhuman; Nietzsche; Moral Philosophy; Cognition; Truth; Error; Intelect; Body; The Will to Power; Drive and Instinct; Evolution; Idealism; Nihilism; Amor fati; Beyond Good and Evil; Freedom; Ascetic ideals
Before and Beyond Embedding: A Reference Fable from the National Library of Technology in Prague
Skenderija, Sasha ; Stehlík, Martin ; Houdek, Tomáš
Rewind the tape telling the story of reference services at the National Library of Technology (NTK) in Prague to 2009: a closed stacks specialized library with a long, complicated institutional history re-opens its arms to the public with a new “open stacks spirit” in an innovative building—an architectural jewel. Students (80% of all visitors) and the public embrace an inspiring space in the heart of a STEM campus and it rapidly fills with activities ranging from conferences to art exhibitions to concerts. But lost in this mélange are modern academic reference and information services. Despite being governed and financed directly by the Czech Ministry of Education, the narrative of value to academic stakeholders is shyly whispered. “We’re the flagship of Czech librarianship,” we gloat. Nothing, and almost no one, shouts: “We can help you succeed in your academic journey.” Fast-forward to 2017. In our paper, we will relate how we are weaving together the first fabrics of academic value narratives. Our story has not been linear; threads related to internal strategic planning, creation of intranets and reusable staff educational modules entwine with other threads (user-based online development, social media statements, “backward designed” instructional efforts) which we discuss using notable examples. Common to all narratives are themes of academic success, rigor, and individual engagement; internally in relation to ongoing staff development and externally, with intimate involvement (even bowling!) with colleagues and students. While our campus may not yet be fully ready for such approaches, we are now strongly declaring our value as essential players in the successful education of students.

Evaluation of reproductive parameters in a herd of pigs
Houdek, Tomáš ; Čítek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Miloslav, Miloslav (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to choose important reproductive parameters of sows from the available data, according to which it would be possible to statistically evaluate achieved reproductive level of analysed breed. It is necessary to define these parameters as accurately as possible with the shortest time required for measuring and collecting data. In the reproductive company SPV Plevnice were chosen 110 sows from different litters for the purpose of experiment. The day of weaning was on the 5th August 2015 and the sows were separated into 8 groups according to the order of actual litter, sow genotype and boar genotype, used for sow insemination. 13 basic reproductive parameters and 10 reproductive parameters reflecting sow genotype (BLBA x BAL) and boar genotype (4 breeds) BLBA = Czech large white x Landrace x Topigs, BAL = Czech large white x Landrase x Topigs x DanBred. The average value of born company piglets was 13,94. More specifically, total number of livebirths was 13,25 and total number of stillbirths was 0,68, which represents 4,88% of whole litter. Average number of weaned piglets per one sow and one litter was 12,16 with the loss of 1,06 piglet and statistical signifikance of risk and producing (p = 0,0436). The pregnancy rate after the first insemination reaches 89,82% and is influenced by average number of unproductive days 10,84 days. All these factors (including average lactation period of 27,06 days) forms meantime (154,03) with turnover 2,37 litters per year. As the most important factor is considered the indicator of weaned piglets per year, which in this case reaches 28,82 piglets/sow per year. In the next chapter there were given parameters in the term of old sow BLBA genotype and BAL genotype compared. In the next chapter the same comparation was used for boars. The impact of the breed was the best at sows of the last reproductive season, when the best boar L1536 had the highest number of livebirths with the average breeding loss (-1,1) 12,28 weaned piglets. Practically the same results had L1538 boar. However, in this case the number of livebirths was very low, so that the number of nurse sows was higher. The youngest L25 boar has the highest number of livebirths/sow per year, however concurrently the highest losses to weaning and therefore least weaned piglets in comparison with other boars. In terms of the distribution of the season, the worst results for the summer season (12.7 piglets born alive / litter).
