Balážová, Zuzana ; Hájek, Lukáš (advisor) ; Bahenský, Vojtěch (referee)
The bachelor thesis Communication of the government of the Czech Republic during the COVID-19 pandemic deals with the communication of selected representatives of Czech government. The work examines the communication of the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Ministers of Health. The first section of the thesis focuses on theoretical starting points of the field of government communication, its multidisciplinary nature as well as definition. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the theoretical framework was broadened with crisis communication. At the end of the first section, a model of ideal government communication during the crisis was presented. The aim of the work was to find out whether the government of the Czech Republic fulfilled the theoretical prerequisites for successful communication according to this model. Qualitative methods of analysis were complemented with quantitative methods for a better analysis of communication. The results showed that the communication of the selected members of the government did not fulfill the theoretical prerequisites of successful communication, as they did not fulfill most of the elements of the defined model.
Unethical Business Practices and Social Corporate Responsibility: A Case Study from the Fast Fashion Industry
Hanzer, Valentin ; Salamon, Janusz (advisor) ; Hájek, Lukáš (referee)
This thesis investigates whether the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) leads to the avoidance of unethical business practices. This is examined on the basis of the Swedish fast fashion company H&M Hennes and Mauritz AB (H&M). In order to be able to subject the business practice of the company to a moral evaluation, the method of the Narrow Reflective Equilibrium (NRE) is applied. Utilizing this method an argument from coherence will be established, exposing a fraction of H&M's business practices as morally unjustifiable. Thus, on the basis of this specific case, it succeeds in demonstrating that although H&M submits to selected CSR principles, unethical practices appear in the company's business activities. This allows to conclude that embedding CSR in a company's business ethos does not necessarily lead to the avoidance of unethical business practices. This case-based approach does not seek to make any universal claims. Rather, it highlights the limitations of the CSR concept by pointing out the discrepancy between the morality- based theoretical approach of CSR and the profit-oriented practical application of this concept. .
Constitutional Conventions of the President of the Slovak Republic
Šedivý, Jakub ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Hájek, Lukáš (referee)
The eminent Slovak author Marian Giba argues, in connection with the Constitutional Law applied in Slovakia, that the Slovak constitutional system is neither currently based on an unwritten law, nor will it be short. However, this does not mean that in society there is no room for applying the conventions mentioned above in practice. Constitutional conventions are and will continue to be an integral part of the exercise of the mandate of the President of the Slovak Republic. Unlike a constitutional text, a constitutional convention does not emerge overnight. But on the contrary, the process of creating constitutional conventions is purely gradual and many times even subtle in practice. With the thesis problem, I tried to build on my bachelor thesis research, where I examined whether the Constitutional Constitutions were violated in practice by the President of the Slovak Republic at the most critical moments during the governmental crisis in Slovakia in 2018. In this case, I tried to focus on only one constitutional convention. The research question of the final master thesis was to find out the concept of a critical Constitutional Conventions in the territory of Slovakia, i.e., the assignment of the representative of the winning political party to form a new government. Through careful analysis,...
Development of the Presidential Office in the Czech Republic
Šváblová, Sára ; Hájek, Lukáš (advisor) ; Mlejnek, Josef (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the development of the presidential office from 1918, when the Czechoslovak Republic was founded, to 2018. In particular, it focuses on presidential powers. The purpose of the first part is to describe and trace, on the basis of constitutional texts, the changes in the individual competences of the head of state, as well as changes in his or her electability and accountability, and to place them in the context of constitutional development in the Czech lands. The aim is to present information about the presidential office in a clear and comprehensible way. The second part of the thesis focuses on a comparative analysis of specific powers. The thesis focuses on four presidential powers: the right to reverse a law or the right of veto, amnesty and pardon, and the appointment and dismissal of the government. The comparative analysis is conducted from the perspective of the constitutions and focuses on the distinctive elements of these powers. The aim is to assess, on the basis of the elements being compared, under which constitution the presidency was strongest in that particular power.
Comparison of the unity of communication of the coalitions Pirates and Mayors and Together before the legislative elections 2021
Růžička, Adam ; Hájek, Lukáš (advisor) ; Jüptner, Petr (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of the unity of communication of the pre- electoral coalitions formed before the Czech legislative elections in 2021. The first coalition consists of the Czech Pirate Party and the Mayors and Independents movement (STAN). The second coalition called "Together" encompasses the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), the KDU- ČSL, and the TOP 09. The thesis uses a comparative method that takes into account the content analysis of the electoral campaigns. The aim was to find out how the coalition parties formed a unified communication during the pre-election campaign. After the introduction, the theoretical framework includes political communication, political marketing, election campaigns, and pre- electoral coalitions. There is a brief introduction to the characteristics and development of coalition subjects and the motivation for creating pre-electoral coalitions. The comparison shows that the coalitions have chosen a different approach to unified communication. The parties of the Together coalition continued to try to build their political brands, which subsequently tried to project into a united coalition brand. This led to better establishment and awareness of this formation. The Pirates and Mayors were less united in the partial aspects of the communication,...
Criteria for prohibition or suspension of political party's activity and their fulfillment by the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia
Sedlář, Jiří ; Hájek, Lukáš (advisor) ; Charvát, Jan (referee)
The topic of banning or suspending the activities of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) has long resonated in Czech society. The aim of the thesis is to answer, on the basis of summarized criteria and expert opinions, whether the KSČM did not meet the conditions for its prohibition or suspension of its activities in a certain period of its existence (1989-2012). The text is theoretically based on the concept of defensive democracy, the foundations of which are brought closer to the reader both in general terms and in a more detailed form in the environment of the Czech Republic. Among other things, the thesis reflects selected historical cases associated with the Communist Party, which led to the development of this concept in the Czech Republic. Individual efforts to legally sanction the Communist Party culminated in 2011 with a request from the Ministry of the Interior for expert opinions. The aim of these assessments was to support the reasoning of the upcoming proposal to suspend the activities of the KSČM. The result of this work is the finding that on the basis of a comparison of general criteria and arguments from expert opinions, the activities of the Communist Party could not be banned or suspended.
