Treatment Outcome Evaluation of Therapeutic Community for Drug Addicts

Evaluace výsledků léčby v terapeutické komunitě pro drogově závislé Martin Šefránek Abstrakt: Východiska: Výzkumem podložené závěry prokazující efektivitu léčby v terapeutických komunitách pro léčbu závislostí a umožňující mezinárodní srovnání jsou v ČR ojedinělé. "Evaluace výsledků léčby v terapeutické komunitě pro drogově závislé" je v ČR první prospektivní výzkumná studie hodnoticí efektivitu léčby uživatelů drog v terapeutických komunitách. Cil: Cílem studie je vyhodnotit, jak se změnilo užívání drog, kriminalita, osobní a sociální fungování a kvalita života uživatelů drog 1 rok po ukončení léčby. Metody: Data byly sbírány prostřednictvím strukturovaných interview s klienty terapeutických komunit. Studie porovnává změny v problémovém chování klientů ve 30 dnech před začátkem léčby a ve 30 dnech po 1 roce od jejího ukončení. Základním výzkumným nástrojem je the Maudsley Addiction Profile, který jsme doplnili o další měření. Soubor: Výzkumný soubor tvoří 176 uživatelů drog, kteří v letech 2007 a 2008 zahájili léčbu v rezidenční terapeutické komunitě. 1 rok po ukončení léčby byly data získány od 77.8% (N=137) klientů. (in English): The thesis deals with the issue of social aktivizačních activities that are provided to seniors living in residential institutions in the region of Beroun. Theoretical part introduces the situation relating to old age, aging and of the needs of the elderly. Describes services provided by the elderly and their representation in the District of Beroun. Further defines the concept of mobilisation and defines its individual methods and techniques. The empirical part is focused on interviews with employees, which operates in the homes for the elderly in the District of Beroun. The result of the work are the views and experiences of activation workers on the course aktivation.
Evaluation of selected low-threshold children and youth facilities

(in English): This diploma thesis deals with the theme of low-threshold facilities for children and youth. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and empirical part. At the beginning of the theoretical work, work with risky youth, the theory of risky behavior and its individual types is approached. In detail, a low-threshold facility for children and young people is introduced, including legislative anchoring, principles, target group and individual working methods. At the end of the theoretical part is described system of social services assessment and current events in this area. The empirical part contains research methodology, research results and evaluation. The aim of the thesis is to compare the facilities of the capital city of Prague and the Central Bohemian region and to compare the ideas about the goals of work between the managers and their subordinates. A qualitative method was chosen for the research, when data collection was carried out using semi-structured interviews.
Social housing policy towards families with difficult access to housing market

This thesis is focused on social housing for families as a specific housing policy instrument for securing housing of families with children who are for various reasons disadvantaged on the free housing market. In the thesis social housing is understood as a way towards fulfilment of the right to adequate housing and at the same time as an instrument for supporting families in their function of securing healthy development of their children in a safe environment. The aim of the thesis is to contribute to the actual debate on the creation of the state policy of social housing. It is done mainly by the mapping of housing and social policy on the state and local level. Local policy of social housing is explored particularly in five city districts of the capital city of Prague. The research draws data from documents of the city districts and interviews with the officials from property departments and social departments, in particular with the heads of child welfare sections. The research shows that the access of families with children to the instruments of local housing policy is always in some way limited. The city districts vary in the level of these limits. The life of seniors in different types of settlements in Vysočina Region

(in English) The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare selected aspects of life of seniors living in different types of settlements in the Vysočina Region. The compared settlements are the county town of Jihlava, the former district town Pelhřimov, and Kamenice nad Lipou which is a municipality with an authorized municipal office. The work consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with terms related to senior age, the elderly, meaningfulness of life, active ageing, and demographics of the Czech Republic. The main sources used were reference books, Fram planning documents and other documents from the areas of the research. The practical part contains the actual research, which consists of a semi-structured questionnaire and a personal observation of specific age groups of seniors in the monitored areas. The outcomes of the research describe availability of social and health services in the settlements, aspects of life which are important to seniors and ways the requirements for the quality of life of seniors in those locations are fulfilled. Crisis of informal carers in the care of seniors at home

This thesis deals with informal (family) carers who provide for the care of an elderly person in their home environment. It focuses on selected moments of crises (motivation, accepting support, financing, impacts) based on the analysis of documents and the author's two-year working experience in this field. The objective of this thesis is to find out how the carers cope with such crises and what strategies they choose in their provision of care. The theoretical part of the thesis defines basic terms related to old age and their values, informal carers and related areas of care, including pre-defined crises. The research part is divided into methodology, in which part the author describes her methods of obtaining data through semi-structured interviews; and into the empiric part, which is based on the statements of the carers interviewed. Support of Personal Identity Development as One of the Pillars of Recovery from Mental Illness: Possibilities of Narrative Practice

(in English): This bachelor thesis topic is personal identity development in recovery process from mental illness focusing on the possibilities of narrative practice. This thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part deals with narrative approach from the point of view of its origins and practice, the postmodern concept of identity and, last but not least, the concept of recovery from mental illness and the stimulus to the relation between identity and mental illness. The practical part consists of two main subchapters, the first of which is based on interviews with people recovering from mental illness. The goal is to provide an insight into the perception of relation between mental illness, recovery and personal identity. This pilot study has identified as essential issues for the relation between personal identity and mental illness: the importance of personal recovery; working on themselves as an active attitude to change; the importance of disease reconception; the importance of roles and relationships. Suicidality in CZ as public policy problem and prevention options

Suicide rate is above EU average in Czechia. At the same time, no initiative trying to solve this problem exist. Aim of this thesis is suggest content of suicide prevention policy suitable for Czech environment. Author adopts optics of evidence-based policy approach and in line with this, meta- review (systematic review of systematic reviews; MR) and group discussion were conducted. MR identified 73 potentially effective interventions, 47 (64%) of these were recommended for assessment for Czech context. These interventions were critically reviewed by seven experts and discussion resulted in set of comments and other relevant outputs. Results of MR and group discussion were then put together in relation to broader context and in this sense they represent optimal basis for complex suicide prevention policy in Czechia.
Social work through the eyes of helping professions

(in English): My thesis refers to social work in hospitals through the eyes of helping professions in the territory of the Prague capital. The thesis is more specifically related to the health-social work which is considered a subdiscipline of social work. The aim of the thesis is to obtain the view of the employees of the assisting professions who work in hospitals on social work and, as such, work of health-social employees. The entire thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part introduces readers to the profession of social work, its ethics and values. This part presents the social worker, his qualifications and job description. Next, it deals with the quality of social work and shortly presents Quality Standards of social services and provides the insight into the historical background of social work. The second chapter deals with social work in the health sector, its legislative framework, health-social worker - his qualifications, job description and competences. The end part of the second chapter provides an inspiration from abroad respectively from the United States of America and Finland. Effectiveness Assessment Options for the "Ve dvou se to lépe táhne" Mentoring Program

This diploma thesis is focused on measurement of effectiveness of the one to one peer coeval mentoring programme "Ve dvou se to lépe táhne" that was designated for youth at risk. The main goal of the thesis is to choose an appropriate way how to measure programme effectiveness and verify the possibility to integrate it with the methodology of the programme. In the introduction of the theoretical part of thesis there are given the definitions of adolescence and changes related with this age, circumstances that threaten youth at risk and the list of programmes, available in the Czech Republic, for youth at risk. Moreover there is introduced the program "Ve dvou se to lépe táhne" and possibilities for evaluation of the programme in particular from the impact on clients point of view. Practical part gives information about the chosen evaluation method and its modification corresponding with particularities of the programme, further describes the implementation stage of the method and finally a pilot version of the modified method on the basis of created questionnaires is assessed.
