Opinions of Primary School Students on the Dangers Posed by Selected Mammal Species
Benešová, Šárka ; Andreska, Jan (advisor) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
This thesis builds on my bachelor thesis "Selected mammals in elementary and secondary education". It deals with the opinions of 8th and 9th grade pupils of elementary schools on the dangers posed by selected mammal species. Among the selected species in this work are brown bear (Ursus arktos), wolf (Canis lupus), lynx (Lynx lynx), fox (Vulpes vulpes), dog (Canis lupus familiaris), and wild boar (Sus strofa). All these animals are found in the territory of the Czech Republic. In addition to the perception of dangers posed by these mammals, the thesis also ascertains knowledge of and attitude towards these selected species. The pupils also expressed their opinions about dog breeds and stated whether they currently had a dog, or had had one in the past, and if so, what kind it was. The study was conducted on the basis of a questionnaire survey. Questionnaires were given out at primary schools in areas, where some of the beasts abide (brown bear, wolf, lynx). The work also contains information about individual mammal species that were studied as well as the introduction of the domestic dog, its domestication and an overview of dog breeds. Key words: bear, wolf, dog, lynx, fox, wild boar, breeds
Development related termination of the root apical meristem activity
Benešová, Šárka ; Soukup, Aleš (advisor) ; Vaňková, Radomíra (referee)
Development Related Termination of the Root Apical Meristem Activity Abstract Root system architecture is modulated through growth and branching of individual roots, while the growth is strictly regulated via long term apical meristem (RAM) maintenance and cell elongation. RAM activity is not consistent during root on- togeny, which was shown in several dicotyledonous species as change in root meristem structure and decline in root growth rate during individual root development. This thesis is focused on changes in extent and arrangement of meristematic tissues and their derivatives within adventitious roots of Acorus calamus and Oryza sativa during long term cultivation. Changes in meristem and elongation zone length, the root cap length, radial tissue complexity, as well as the changes in root hair emergence, etc., are put into relation with quantified expression level of selected important regulatory elements taking part in RAM maintenance (WOX and SCR family transcription factors). Methodology and approach for future research in this field are outlined. Keywords: Root, Apical Meristem, Root System Architecture, RAM Termination
Sophistication of European Union's Exports
Benešová, Šárka ; Janský, Petr (advisor) ; Semerák, Vilém (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to provide the assessment of trade-quality relationship for European Union. This thesis is beneficial as it answers the question if quality substantively affects traded volume and economic development in EU. Further, it should be helpful to decision making procedure concerning international trade as it identifies exported product characteristics which can lead to faster economic growth. This thesis verifies whether export sophistication positively influences traded volume in 27 members of the EU (Luxembourg is excluded due to limits in data) in year 2013. The most recent innovations in quality measurement and estimation technique, the quality index and two stages of gravity model of international trade are applied in this thesis to be the most accurate and up-to-date as possible. This thesis confirms that sophistication in EU presents significant factor of products and the rise in quality helps to more intensive trade and can result in faster economic growth. The result was checked for possible biases in two specifications, in single country and industry level estimations. The importance of quality for trade was supported in all these concretizations.
Function of root apical meristem
Benešová, Šárka ; Soukup, Aleš (advisor) ; Kulich, Ivan (referee)
A root apical meristem is the only source of cells for all tissues in the root. The root growth relies on its function. Regulation of a cell division frequency and cell differentiation affects organization and function of the differentiated tissues and the proper meristem function. If the cell differentiation overbalances the cell proliferation, the meristem exhaustion occurs and the root growth irreversibly terminates. This thesis describes existing knowledge about regulation of the primary root apical meristem of model plants Arabidopsis thaliana and Zea mays, explains these findings in the context of plant postembryonal development and provides informations about how and under what conditions the primary root growth might be terminated.
Gravity Models Enlarged by Institutional Factors
Benešová, Šárka ; Benáček, Vladimír (advisor) ; Babin, Adrian (referee)
This thesis focuses on the gravity model of international trade that is enlarged by institutional factors. The aim is to concentrate on behaviour of Swiss exporter, based on cross-sectional and time series panel dataset. Swiss former foreign trade is analysed for this purpose. Afterwards, institutional factors are discussed in the first part of the thesis, how they can influence international trade and how they are affected by liberalisation. Further, the gravity model of international trade and development of the model is introduced. Second part of the thesis concentrates on the estimation of the gravity model for Swiss export by fixed and random effects. It was found out that institutional factors have impact on Swiss exports, especially from the static perspective while the subjects between countries are discriminated, which is modelled using cross-sectional data specification. The role of institutions substantially decreases in dynamic point of view.
Finanční analýza a mezipodnikové srovnání podniku Pražská plynárenská, a.s.
Benešová, Šárka ; Staňková, Anna (advisor) ; Pokorný, Stanislav (referee)
cílem mé práce není provést pouze samotnou finanční analýzu a mezipodnikové srovnání společnosti Pražské plynárenská, a. s.
