Political tabloid press on examples of titles "Na vlastní oči Praha 10" and "Na vlastní oči"

The main goal of this diploma thesis was to find patterns on the pages of Na vlastní oči (With One's Own Eyes) title that define gutter press in its specific form of political tabloid. The analysis was concerned with the time period from 2016 to 2019 during which the said title was published in total of four waves each of which related to the relevant pre-election campaign. The Na vlastní oči title was initially published anonymously and only later Jan Čížek, publisher of the regional town-hall newspaper and a Freedom and Direct Democracy Party (SPD) candidate, claimed to be the publisher. SPD subsequently became the final sponsor of the newspaper. In the first wave of publishing activity, the authors of the title focused on a disparaging campaign against the then-candidate for the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Parliament and, in a broader context, against the whole opposition within the City Council of the Prague 10 City Ward. In its later publications, the newspaper dealt mostly with topics aimed at spreading fear of an unspecified danger associated with the refugee crisis and concerns about the unknown in the form of the Islamic Religion which was always associated with the threat of terrorism. The election of the Director General of Czech Television in 2017 as a news topic

The thesis deals with the election of the Director General of Czech Television in 2017. The topic is viewed from the perspective of the media agenda of print and online media. The researched media was chosen by the key of the highest readership in the period from the beginning of January to the end of April 2017. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the specifics of the effects of media, which categorizes into three types. Furthermore, the theory mentions the concept agenda-setting, which belong to the long-term effects of the media, and which includes the examined media agenda. The theory also defines the concepts of public service and public service media, related terms and basic legal anchoring. The theoretical part also presents the Czech Television institution and its supervisory body, which elects the General Director, the Council of Czech Television. The practical part, through the analysis of news outputs that were published for the election in the defined period, using quantitative content analysis and qualitative analysis of the frameworks, shows how the choice was displayed in the media environment and what topics it raised. Contemporary Czech TV series: methods used in screenplay development

The thesis deals with contemporary Czech serial production in terms of script development. It focuses primarily on the development of screenplays for the series on Česká televize and on drama series with one-hour episodes. It compares the development in the Czech environment with British and American practice. It maps the current Czech serial environment, creates an overview of contemporary Czech serials in broadcasting and clarifies the basics of narrative serial structure. It contains a comparison of selected pilot parts in terms of their narrative structure. It focuses on both screenwriting practice and development practices from the point of view of the television of public service, in the case of the American production it focuses on the Hollywood system. It uses methods of qualitative analysis of scripts, in-depth semi-structured interviews with creative producers and comparison of script development in individual productions.
Comparison of media coverage of football, volleyball and floorball in selected media types in Czech Republic

The diploma thesis focuses on two different sports media ČT sport and Deník Sport. Based on the broadcasting program, respectively the content of individual copies, examines two selected periods of one year. The aim is to find out the content coverage of football, volleyball and floorball sports in individual media. The data is recorded in the coding sheet according to individual sports and media. Results are sorted by content type, content length and other selected criteria. The results bringing a very strong dominance of football topics in the printed media and a high share of content on ČT sport. Volleyball and floorball are considerably limited in the press, while on television they get their space, which, however, could be higher due to the player base of the two sports.
The image of the vampire in popular media

From the beginning of the twenty first century vampires begin to appear in other genres other than the horror and their image in popular media starts to change. The changes begin not only in the image but also the perception of vampire in popular media shifts into new directions. These changes are interconnected and influence each other. The thesis will analyse the ways vampires are portrayed in films and TV series from the end of the twenties century until recent times. The changes happening will be explored across different genres and across time. The thesis will then attempt to examine whether there is a pattern of trends within the observed forms, and whether these trends are common across the different genres.

This bachelor thesis is divided in two parts - the theoretical one and the practical one. The practical part named Příroda: Druhý domov Mariána Poláka is a documentary TV portrait about czech documentarist Marián Polák, who as almost the only one in the Czech republic, is filming natural movies nowadays. He has filmed several documentary movies and shows about nature. He has finished his first feauture film about czech nature called Planeta Česko (2018) last year. The first part of my bachelor thesis is trying to describe Marián Polák mostly as a documentarist. At the same time it shows a difficult process of filming natural documentary. The theoretical part adds facts to the practical one. It analyses documentary and it also tries to define the documentary movie. Briefly it describes the history of the documentary and its origin. The typology of the documentary is shortly covered in the next part of the bachelor thesis. The bachelor thesis characterize the author's type, the moderate type, the performed type and the observe type of document. It mostly shows the natural documentary movie, destinctive the natural documentary movie about animals. Killed them all, of course: representation of the Robert Durst Case in documentary, movie and media

In my thesis Killed them all, of course: representation of the Robert Durst Case in documentary, movie and media I aimed to create a case study that follows the case of Robert Durst and its representation mainly in documentary series and lifemovie directed by Andrew Jarecki. It compares individual takes on the case and furthermore analyses the critics of decisions made by documentary makers based on the principles of documentary ethics. It focuses on moral dilemma that can documentary maker encounter. The thesis follows the investigation of the murders of Susan Berman, Morris Black, Durst's neighbor, and the disappearance of Kathleen Durst, whose body has never been found. Thesis also ponders over how effectively represent the truth in a documentary and what are the faults of Andrew Jarecki regarding his work both in documentary and in movie.
Media image of May Day celebrations in selected years of the period 1948-1989 in the Czechoslovakian press

This bachelor thesis focuses on the media image of the May Day celebrations in four decades of the communist era in Czechoslovakia. Using qualitative analysis this thesis describes the media image two weeks before and one week after the celebrations in the last two years of each decade - i. e. 1948, 1949, 1958, 1959, 1968, 1969, 1978, 1979, 1988 and 1989. In particular, it focuses on three Czechoslovakian daily newspapers - Rudé právo, Svobodné slovo and Lidová demokracie - in these selected periods. The qualitative analysis is accompanied by a quantitative part which counts the total number of mentions regarding the May Day celebrations in all three newspapers in the selected years. Furthermore, the analysis focuses on how the newspapers used photographs and graphics regarding the May Day celebrations and how they informed about celebrations abroad. The objective of this thesis is to describe the transformation of the media image of the May Day celebrations in the course of historic events in Czechoslovakia and to ascertain how the particular newspapers differed in their covering of the celebrations.
Television debates before the second round of the presidential election and their influence on voter decision - making

TV presidential debates are an interesting media and political phenomenon that is considered also as the peak of the presidential election campaign. For the first time, this television duel between the two main presidential candidates was broadcast in the US in 1960. In the Czech Republic, the practice of television presidential debates with the legalization of direct presidential elections, ie in 2013, was introduced. The two main candidates in the second round of the election were Miloš Zeman and Jiří Drahoš. Together they met in front of television cameras in only two cases - on TV Prima in the program Hledá se president 2018 and on Czech Television in the program Prezidentský duel - Finále. The aim of this thesis is to find out how the dramaturgy and the overall processing of the debate differ on private television and how, if it is produced by a public institution. Through qualitative content analysis and subsequent comparison, I was interested not only in the selection and sorting of topics, but also in the way of moderation, the visual and audio effects used during the debate or the role of the audience. The bachelor thesis "Online reviews of a documentary film Mečiar and users' comments in Česko-Slovenská filmová databáze" focuses on the analysis and comparison of selected online film reviews and users' comments in Česko-Slovenská filmová databáze. The first part focuses on the political situation in Slovakia after the Velvet Revolution in 1989, specifically the political party Hnutie za demokratické Slovensko and its leader Vladimír Mečiar. This part of the thesis also gives a brief insight into the theory of the documentary film, and it provides information about the first documentary portrait of Vladimír Mečiar, Tereza Novotová's documentary work and also the analysis of a documentary film Mečiar. The main part of the thesis defines the publicist genre of review, and it deals with the phenomenon of Česko-Slovenská filmová databáze, as well as with two other different film databases. The final part of the thesis focuses on the analysis and comparison of online film reviews published in different media platforms and also on users' comments in Česko- Slovenská filmová databáze.
