Idea and phenomenon
A začněme hned prvním překvapením. Teoretické malířství je zde postaveno proti maliřstvi výkonnému. Toto děleni má dle Patočky svůj původ v protikladu vita contemplativa a activa: " ... jest aplikaci dualismu života kontemplativního a praktického na...
How to think Architecture in a new way. Late though of Peter Eisenman and his critical theory of architecture
Tourek, Jiří ; Říha, Cyril (advisor) ; Pětová, Marie (referee) ; Zervan, Marian (referee)
Dissertation thesis "How to think Architecture in a new way. Late though of Peter Eisenman and his critical theory of architecture" tries to summarise and analyse the key thoughts of architect and thinker Peter Eisenman in his late oeuvre. The point of departure of his theoretical thinking seems to be refusal of any timeless essence of architecture and a will to "dislocate" architecture from influence of metaphysics. The way to this is "criticality", a notion constituted with three basic terms: interiority (the interiority of architecture defines the discipline, what it is that makes architecture singular), exteriority (external concepts that change architecture by being internalised into the discipline and changing it) and anteriority (anteriority is the sedimented history of architecture; history of interiority). These three terms are according to Eisenman connected in a notion of "undecidability" that serves as a central criterium to criticality and in a "diagram" that is a mean to overcome metaphysical implications of architecture. At the end of the thesis there is a summary of Eisenman's theoretical work and its importance and an attempt is made to set so conceived whole in its entirety to the thought of "end of metaphysics". In this context is Eisenman seen to be in a position similar from...
Place Identity A Case Study of The Solidarita Housing Estate
Hodúlová, Tereza ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Říha, Cyril (referee)
The master thesis deals with the study of the relation between man and his surroundings. The thesis solves the issue of the place identity and the process of identification with the example of the Prague housing estate Solidarita. It analyses the surroundings from the perspective of a concept of identity which has a multidimensional character. For this reason, the case study approach has been chosen to allow a comprehensive study of space from a variety of perspectives. It deals with the history of the housing estate, its residents, social connections and the perception of space. Because of the presence of green vegetation and public facilities, the Solidarita housing estate is presented as a place which provides a high-quality space and supports the production of social interactions. Surrounding of Solidarita housing estate respects human scale and provides stronger social interactions. The thesis also accents the importance of sociological and anthropological research of a space, that should be a part of urban processes. Key words Architecture, Identity, Housing Estate, Neighborhood, Place, Place Attachment, Place Identity, Solidarita Housing Estate, Space, Urbanism
Which one is the right one? Evaluation of buildings from the energy and costs saving perspective
Špot, Marek ; Říha, Cyril (advisor) ; Klápště, Petr (referee)
The thesis concentrates on residential buildings evaluation from energy and financial savings perspective. More than 40 % of the total man-induced energy consumption is directed to building construction and maintenance. In these buildings, we spend majority of our lives. The aim of the study is thus to support the discussion about the benefits from new, both energetically and environmentally considerate building trends. Theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to ecologically efficient family houses and their distinctive features in comparison to commonly built houses, whereas empirical part compares these building types from the energetic and financial viewpoint. Thesis goes on with most frequent ,myths' about sustainable architecture. As a conclusion, the study aims to point out which building type is the most advantageous in terms of energy, finance, sustainability etc. Keywords: Sustainable architecture, Passive house, Energy savings, Sustainable development
