Acceleration of Data Compression Algorithms Using GPU
Cacek, Pavel ; Drábek, Vladimír (referee) ; Šimek, Václav (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis is dealing with possibility of acceleration compression algorithm on graphical card. I have studied specifically the compression algorithm JPEG, which is used for compression image data. The text first introduced technology, which give access to us use computational power of graphics cards.  The work is also focused on the theoretical description of the JPEG and subsequently is describe its implementation using OpenCL and NVIDIA CUDA. Finally, there is a comparison of performance this GPGPU technologies.
Compression Methods Based on Context Modelling
Krupička, Matúš ; Drábek, Vladimír (referee) ; Bařina, David (advisor)
This thesis is dedicated to analysis of context-based compression methods, their characteristics and possibilities of their usage. Thesis focuses on and hands out detail overview of statistical method PPM (prediction by partial matching). Program design of this method is described as well as the implementation. Lastly, also the outcomes of this program are compared with already existing implementations of data compression.
ALU Built-In Self Test
Bednář, Jaroslav ; Růžička, Richard (referee) ; Drábek, Vladimír (advisor)
This work deals with faults, errors and failures, which can occur during manufacturing and long term operation. Work describes the various failures and fault models. There are some approaches to get fault tolerant systems, mainly in hardware. The thesis continues with a summary of methods for ALU software testing. The last chapter is about tests generation for microcontroller MSP430.
Construction of Reliability Models for Advanced Digital Systems
Trávníček, Jan ; Drábek, Vladimír (referee) ; Kaštil, Jan (advisor)
This thesis deals with the systems reliability. At First, there is discussed the concept of reliability itself and its indicators, which can specifically express reliability. The second chapter describes the different kinds of reliability models for simple and complex systems. It further describes the basic methods for construction of reliability models. The fourth chapter is devoted to a very important Markov models. Markov models are very powerful and complex model for calculating the reliability of advanced systems. Their suitability is explained here for recovered systems, which may contain absorption states. The next chapter describes the standby redundancy. Discusses the advantages and disadvantages of static, dynamic and hybrid standby. There is described the influence of different load levels on the service life. The sixth chapter is devoted to the implementation, description of the application and description of the input file in XML format. There are discussed the results obtaining in experimental calculations.
Compression Methods Based on Context Modelling
Kozák, Filip ; Drábek, Vladimír (referee) ; Bařina, David (advisor)
Purpose of this thesis is to describe the context-based compression methods and their application to multimedia data. There is described the principle of arithmetic coding and prediction by partial matching method, including creation of the probability model. There are also described multimedia data and the basic principles of their compression. The next section presents compression methods, that I implemented at work and their results.
Design of Computing Structures in Cellular Automata
Luža, Jindřich ; Drábek, Vladimír (referee) ; Bidlo, Michal (advisor)
The goal of this master thesis is to examine possibilities of realizing comptutational structures in cellular automata. The work describes the fundamental principles of cellular automata and summarizes some ways of how to achive the specified goal. An overview of Turing-complete and other specialized computational tasks is proposed considering both 1D and 2D cellular automata. It is shown that different computational scenarios in cellular automata can be considered with various setups of the input and output arrangements. With regard to showed inputs and outputs arrangement, sets of tests is designed to find solutions of choosen computational structures on cellular automata with use of choosen evolutionary algorithm. Found solutions are compared by computational resources consumption and difficulty of discovery later.
Cellular Automata Design Optimization
Jílek, Tomáš ; Drábek, Vladimír (referee) ; Bidlo, Michal (advisor)
Focus of this master's thesis is on evolutionary design of cellular automata and it's optimalization. There are described Evolutionary algorithms and Cellular automata in first part. Thereafter, one of the new ways of transition function representation and its possible evolutionary design is presented. Name of this method is Conditionally Matching Rules. This is followed by description of realized experiments with detailed results. Finally, success with optimalization for some tasks is presented in last chapter along with discussion.
CUDA Accelerated Video Encoding to H.264 Format
Duong, Cuong Tuan ; Drábek, Vladimír (referee) ; Záň, Drahoslav (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor's thesis is to create functional encoder of H.264 format accelerated by CUDA platform. H.264 is at the moment one of the most popular digital compression standards, but because of its high computational demands, it is suitable to process it on GPU. Encoder is written in C/C++ and uses NVCUVID and NVENC API.
Construction of Reliability Models for Advanced Digital Systems
Wanka, Mario ; Drábek, Vladimír (referee) ; Kaštil, Jan (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to simulate the impact of reliability of circuits designed to detect failures in components of advanced digital systems. At first the reliability and terms related are defined and Markov models are itroduced. These are used as logic for simulator, which is introduced in next chapter. This simulator is an ad-hoc solution and it's usage is thoughly described, as well as it's bahviour in various situations and configurations. In the end the results of experiments with reliability of circuits designed to detect failures for multiple models are shown and discussed. By the results of this thesis it is obvious, that the crutial factor for system's reliability ensurance is failure disguis in short-term view and repairing ability in long-term view.
Using High-Level Synthesis for ZYNQ Platform Applications
Husák, Jiří ; Drábek, Vladimír (referee) ; Fučík, Otto (advisor)
This work describes using High-Level Synthesis in image processing application. The application is for Xilinx ZYNQ platform. The source code of components for FPGA is written in C++ programming language. For High-Level Synthesis is used Xilinx Vivado HLS tool. In the application are designed and implemented Sobel filter, Median filter, Bilateral filter and architecture for AdaBoost classificator. The extension of this work is implemented the component for network traffic. The component finds the begin of the packet.
