Česko je v otázce mezinárodní migrace v kontextu střední a východní Evropy výz- namným fenoménem. Počet přicházejících cizinců kontinuálně roste a dá se očeká- vat, že poroste také jejich aktivní podíl na řadě procesů zásadně ovlivňujících naši společnost i sídla. Rostoucí socio-ekonomická i etnická rozmanitost populace se propisuje do prostoru, kde může docházet ke koncentraci různých skupin obyvatelstva. Zkušenosti z tradičních imigračních zemí ukazují, že dobrovolné shlukování přistěhovalců do etnick- ých enkláv bývá přechodným stupněm v integračním procesu, v případě nedobrovolnosti a exkluze však také může být výrazně rizikové. Hlavním cílem této dizertační práce je lépe porozumět distribuci cizinců ve vybraných českých metropolitních areálech a vysvětlit s ní spojené jevy na různých měřítkových úrovních sídelního systému. K zachycení stavu, vývoje, podmíněností a specifik socio- prostorové diferenciace a segregačních procesů se váže hledání vhodných datových zdrojů a metodických přístupů. Krom toho je kladen důraz i na kontextuálně a konceptuálně platnou interpretaci zjištěných výsledků, která v co největší míře přispěje k možnostem efektivního formování celostátních i místních agend ve vztahu k integraci cizinců. Snahou je tedy obohatit dosavadní vědecké poznatky v této oblasti a také... Czechia has become a noteworthy case study of international migration within Central and Eastern Europe. With a steadily increasing inflow of international migrants, it is anticipated that their contribution to the societal and urban dynamics will become more pronounced. This influx has led to a rise in socio-economic and ethnic heterogeneity, reflected in spatial patterns where distinctive population groups are localized. The expe- riences from traditional immigration countries indicate that the voluntary concentration of foreigners into ethnic enclaves often serves as an intermediary phase in the integration process. However, it can also pose significant risks in situations where immigrants are not willing to participate in broader society or face exclusion. The primary goal of this dissertation is to enhance the comprehension of the spatial distribution of foreigners across selected Czech metropolitan areas and to explain the related phenomena on multiple scales within the urban hierarchy. The investigation seeks suitable data sources and methodological frameworks to analyze the current state, trajectory, determinants, and particularities of socio-spatial differentiation and segrega- tion.
