Tato disertační práce je předkládána ve formě svazku odborných publikací spolu s teoretickým úvodem. V teoretickém úvodu je prezentován aktuální stav poznání problematiky faciální rekonstrukce. Stručně jsou popsány oblasti využití, principy metody a typy metod dle použitého média. Dále jsou popisovány spolehlivosti a omezení metod, které jsou zároveň východisky výzkumné části disertační práce. Pro metodu rekonstrukce přibližné podoby člověka podle lebky je typická paralelní existence mnohonásobných predikčních pravidel, jejichž spolehlivost není známa nebo nebyla publikována. Cílem práce bylo otestovat spolehlivosti vybraných vodítek pro odhad polohy a velikosti částí obličeje (očí, nosu a rtů) a na základě výsledků doporučit, která vodítka přednostně používat. V druhé části výzkumu bylo cílem kvantifikovat těsnost vztahu mezi tvarem lebky a tvarem obličeje, tj. určit, do jaké míry a jakým způsobem tvar kostěného podkladu určuje (predikuje) tvar měkkých tkání, a to pomocí geometrické morfometrie. Materiál pro tuto disertační práci tvořil soubor laterálních telerentgenových snímků 87 dospělých jedinců pořízený v letech 1977-1992. Soubor sestával z 52 mužů (21-43 let, průměrný věk: 30 let) a 35 žen (19-39 let, průměrný věk: 21 let) středoevropské populace. Jedinci ve zkoumaném vzorku nevykazovali... This doctoral thesis is submitted in the form of scientific publications together with theoretical introduction. The present state of knowledge of facial approximation methods is presented in the introduction. Areas of application, principles of the method and classification of the methods according to medium used are briefly described. Accuracy and limits of the method are further described as they form a base of the research of this thesis. Simultaneous existence of multiple prediction guidelines, of which the accuracy is not known or published, is typical characteristic of the facial approximation method. The aim of this thesis was to assess the accuracy of the particular prediction rules for estimation of position and size of facial parts (eyes, nose, lips), and based on the results to recommend the most accurate and suitable guidelines for middle European population. An assessment of the strength of the association between craniofacial shape and the shape of soft tissues in the profile using geometric morphometric methods, and determination of the extent to which it might be possible to predict the latter from the former were the purpose of the second part of the research.
