Abstrakt: This work will persue with the concept of psychical distance introduced into the aesthetic theory by Edward Bullough. Psychical distance is a state in which the current "me" is separated from its affects.Psychical distance will be explained by concrete examples of the aesthetic experience. The concept of psychical distance will be applied to both - to art as well as to the common experience. Through the distance we will explain the difference between the pleasant and the beautiful. We will also deal with the role of the lower senses in aesthetic theory. The term psychical distance has been criticized by several authors.The work will also introduce some criticisms with the aim to refute or to prove their relevance for Edward Bullougha's psychical distance concept.
