Large-scale rehabilitation in the alluvial area along the lower reaches of the Dyje River
Lusk, Stanislav ; Pražák, O. ; Lusková, Věra ; Halačka, Karel ; Vetešník, Lukáš
The Dyje River between Lednice and Bulhary was straightened, canalised, and provided with levees. Most of the alluvial area near Podivin was transformed to arable land. Due to elimination of floods, save for exceptions, areas denoted as wetlands and reed beds were qute dry for most of the year. As a result, the native fish communities typical of alluvial habitats gradually vanished from their habitats. In recent years, some 470 hectares on the left bank of the Dyje River, owned by a single private person, were transformed into a deer sanctuary. In the past two years, the arable land in that area has been gradually turned into meadows and a floodplain forest, together with restoring and enlarging the area of permanently waterlogged parts denoted as wetlands. As a result, the conditions permitting permanent occurrence of fish have been significantly improved and for a purposeful restoration of their fish communities in which native species predominate (the Carassius-Misgurnus type).
Artificially made wetlands in river alluvium and their importance in fish biodiversity
Horák, Václav ; Lusk, Stanislav ; Halačka, Karel ; Lusková, Věra
The research of artificially made wetlands of different types proved that these habitats provide very good conditions for various fish species. Artificial wetlands appear to be very promissing habitats for endangered fish species especially in strongly man changed landscape.
Small terrestrial mammals (Insecta, Rodentia) of aluvial ecosystems in the Odra River, the Morava River and the Dyje River lowlands
Řehák, Z. ; Bryja, Josef
Paper summarizes knowledge about small terrestrial mammals in segments of alluvial landscape that are only marginaly affected by human. It is based on published as well as unpublished data obtained during monitoring of communities of rodents and insectivores in Odra, Morava, and Dyje rivers floodplains.
To mow or not to mow
Dušek, J. ; Květ, Jan
The paper deal with management of Plants [Common reed] growing in the constructed wetlands. Authors advised moving of Common reed one per three years in October or November.
The imprortance of wetlands in Biosphere Reserve in the Czech Repubic
Květ, Jan ; Jelínková, E.
The presence of wetlands greatly increases the biodiversity and habitat diversity in the Czech BRs. Wetlands also play an important role in the water balance and biogeochemical cycling of the BRs. Their conservation and/or sustainable management should set an example to wetland management in other regions of the Czech Republic.
Complements and correction to survey of our wetlands
Husák, Štěpán
Contribution content additions and corrections to manual: Wetlands of the Czech Republic 1999.
State of preparations of Žďárské vrchy Landscape Protection Area wetlands for codifications to Ransar sites register
Husák, Štěpán ; Rybníček, Kamil ; Eiseltová, M. ; Zabloudil, V. ; Vaněk, P. ; Ridgill, S.
Preparation of data were finished in 1999. Authors assume that nothingmore stand in the way for sending of dokuments and receivingwetlands of Protected Landscape Area Žďárské vrchy to Ramsar register.
Role of wetlands in cycles of energy, water, nutrients, carbon and heavy metals in landscape
Pokorný, Jan ; Květ, Jan
Basic values on solar energy income and its distribution in dry and wetlans are given. Production of differnt wetland plants and accumulation of nutrients, carbon, hevy metals in biomass, water sediments are given for floodplains, fishponds, bogs, and wet meadows. Examples of nutrient loads, water capacity, evapotranspiration values are discused in terms of sustainable mamagement of landscape.
Long-term research in wetland of the Třeboň Basin Biosphere Reserve
Květ, Jan ; Straškrábová, Viera
The Třeboň basin belongs to most investigated areas of the Czech Republic. A great variety of ecological data enable to make long-term comparisons of the recent state of the ecosystem with those occuring some decades to ca. hinred years ago. Thanks to well-documented history of human impacts into natural relations, the historical aspect may also be utilized. This helps considersably to realize the long-term ecological research.
The importance of the Třeboň Basin for International Wetland Research
Květ, Jan
The Třeboň Basin belongs to the wetland-richest regions of Central Europe: wetlands occupy at least 20 procent of the area of the Třeboň Basin Protected Landscape Area/Biosphere Reserve.Declaration of the Třeboň Basin and some adjacent areas as a BR 1977 a PLA 1979, and an area comprising several wetlands of international importance according to the Ramsar Convention 1991.
