Vaculíková, Petra ; Doc.Ing.arch.Irena Fialová (referee) ; Kroupa, Petr (referee) ; Rudiš, Viktor (referee) ; Pelčák, Petr (advisor)
Changes of physical, functional and social structure of the city as a result of the group of variously interrelated changes and events that are fundamentally participate in the formation of the image of the urban development. This doctoral thesis is based on research of the historical city center - squared. First part is focuses on the historical development of urban texture of the inner city of Brno and its squares. We are talking about Square of Freedom, Vegetable Market, Dominican square, Jacobs square, Capuchins square and Šilingrovo square. Based on individual characteristics, describing the emergence of morphological and functional changes in Brno square was created urban classification of basic types of square. City of Brno, as the capital city of region has a significant position in the structure of settlements. This fact has become one of the key aspects for the selection of examples of European cities and their squares. The second part of the thesis is based on comparative studies of different types of historical squares. In order to define the value of public spaces, it is necessary to look at the public places of historical perspective and deal with the causes that led to the decline of the importance and role of public spaces. Austrian capital cities of region (Graz, Linz, Klagenfurt and Salzburg) will be examined with regard to similar climatic conditions and a common cultural and historical context of the city. Based on urban patterns and graphic diagrams of each square are observed inner relationships between shapes of square, form, function and location of the position of an artwork. Research areas are also focused on comparing aspects of transport, green space, functional use, visual unit and social activities. The public space is shaped by a set of characteristics that promote diversity and interdependence of functions. For a better interpretation of the results have been established two benchmarks - symbol of identification with the place and the Magnet (function and filling space). The objective of the thesis is to define an aspects and elements of space which were involved in square use.

Performance of birds in model cognitive tasks: a cross-taxon comparison
Schlőglová, Nikola ; Exnerová, Alice (advisor) ; Kahounová, Hana (referee)
Bird cognition is an immensely complex topic. Many factors influence how birds acquire, process and act upon obtained information. Some bird groups outshine others regarding their cognitive skills, and the underlying reasons for these differences are extensively researched and discussed. Birds naturally face varying environmental factors that could have driven the evolution of specialised cognitive adaptations not generalisable across all contexts. In contrast, some birds perform well in a broad range of cognitive tasks and may possess general intelligence. Model cognitive tasks help us gain standardised data on birds' cognitive performances to compare them across different taxa, which enables us to identify potential parallels. This thesis covers selected model cognitive tasks: string-pulling tasks, reasoning by exclusion tasks, transitive inference tasks, tasks related to mirror use and reversal learning tasks, for which it analyses and compares the performance of both well-studied and understudied bird taxa. The thesis describes the selected cognitive tasks, summarises available data and highlights correlations between birds' performances and other factors while discussing possible explanations for their varying performances. Finally, the thesis addresses the question of general intelligence...
Goethe's Götz von Berlichingen and Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe. A Comparative Study./Götz von Berlichingen J.W. Goetha a Ivanhoe Sira Waltera Scotta. Srovnávací studie.
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Kristýna
In this work I did a close reading and analysis of a ´storm and stress´ drama by Goethe, Götz von Berlichingen (1773), and the romantic novel by Scott, Ivanhoe (1819), comparing and contrasting themes, motifs and the use of sociohistory and significant historical figures in the adventure plots. It is possible to detect the influence of Goethe´s drama on Scott´s work since Scott had translated Goethe´s drama into English previous to writing his most famous novel. After independent reading and analysis, I secured secondary literature on the topics and consulted them for additional references about the literary relationship between these two famous authors from different nations.
Effect of plant-soil feedback on plant invasiveness
Knobová, Pavlína ; Münzbergová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Štajerová, Kateřina (referee)
Understanding the causes of biological invasions is a key topic of ecological research in the last decades. Invasive plant species threaten communities, ecosystems and humans in many different ways. Therefore, it is important to determine what characteristics enable them to become invasive. In this work, I summarize the possible causes and consequences of plant invasions focusing on one possible mechanism - the plant-soil feedback. This feedback can support or suppress the growth of plants. Most species have negative feedback, but some invasive plants have positive feedback. And that could be the cause of their invasiveness. This work summarizes the findings of the plant-soil feedback, the methods to study the feedback and especially the importance of plant-soil feedback for plant invasiveness.
Cartographic representation of hydrographic features in the state map series
Poláková, Tereza ; Lysák, Jakub (advisor) ; Šára, Pavel (referee)
Cartographic representation of hydrographic features in the state map series Abstract The goal of this bachelor thesis is to create a proposal to completion digital topographic database ZABAGED for hydrographic features. The first part is devoted to introduction to map keys of large scale Czech topographic maps since 1950s and also with the content of database ZABAGED. The emphasis is also put on historical context of new mapping and formation of digital database. The second part deals with a representation of hydrographic features and their guidance in digital topographic databases in four foreign countries. The practical part is devoted to designing a completion of attributes and features to ZABAGED. In view of the new attributes a cartographic representation of selected hydrographic features for the large scale maps is designed. All proposals were created considering the regulation of European Commission INSPIRE Data Specification on Hydrography. Keywords: hydrographic features, cartography, topographic databases, comparative study
Basic rights of the patients

Resume in English The thesis Basic rights of the patients compares two systems of law, the Czech and the French one. This work introduces the resources of legal adjustments of the both law systems in the area of medical law. The first part contains theoretical ground concepts related to attitudes, handicapped persons and survey conducted research on this topic. The second part is dedicated to the research conducted using a structured questionnaire. This research showed that some selected attitudes across helping professions are really different.
The comparative study of predication equations for value calculation 1-RM at the squat and the dead lift.
Radovnický, Jiří ; Fedák, Josef (advisor) ; Petr, Miroslav (referee)
Titel: The comparative study of predication equations for value calculation 1-RM at the squat and the dead lift. Aim: To evaluate the most exact equation for the calculation 1-RM on the basis of comparation of extracted data with predication equations at the squat and the dead lift. Research complex: The research complex is created by the soldiers of Army of Czech Republic. They are the men at the age from 20 to 40 with health classification A. Used methods: The comparative method with the using of experimental testing. Results: By the mutual comparation of data we have found out, that the most exact predication equation for the calculation 1-RM in a squat or in a dead lift is from the authors O'Conner et al. Squat was predicted with correlation coefficient r = 0.975 and deadlift with a value of r = 0.951. Keywords: sqaut, dead lift, 1-RM, prediction equation, correlation coefficient.
