Petra Sládková, Ph.D. Title: Specific aspect occupational therapy in patients who survived holocaust Abstract: While practicing the profession of occupational therapist, we can meet clients who survived the Holocaust in any medical or social facility. The main goal of this diploma thesis was to create a proposal for an occupational therapy program for Jewish seniors who survived the Holocaust, emphasizing the elements of reminiscence therapy. One of the sub-goals of this thesis was to write 5 recommendations, which are specific for these patients. The second sub- goal was to find out the subjective point of view of the clients, the collection of biographies carried out as part of occupational therapy using a short questionnaire individually compiled for this diploma thesis. The design of the occupational therapy program was created based on the collected biographies of 2 clients of the Hagibor Social Care Home. These biographies were then used to create individual care plans for these 2 clients. This thesis focuses on elderly people. It focuses on people with dementia and on the importance of reminiscence therapy when working with these target groups. The thesis describes dementia and types of dementia, progression of dementia, prevention of dementia, needs of seniors and people with dementia. It gives theoretical description of reminiscence therapy and its use. Practical description of reminiscence based on particular personal research, which is carried out with the help of interviews, personal documentation studies, case studies and observation of seniors and people with dementia.

Experiment with emotions of client's with Alzheimer's disease

Bachelor thesis "Experiment with emotions of clients with Alzheimer's Disease," focuses on the issue of Alzheimer's disease. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and research. In the theoretical part, Alzheimer's disease is precisely defined, its causes, consequences, but also the pharmacological treatment and a non-pharmacological treatment is defined in a separate chapter. In the research part, a method of observation is used to collect data, which capture the emotional experience of clients during reminiscent therapy, the acquired data and information are recorded and subsequently evaluated.

Possibilities of verbal therapy use as a therapeutic tool at the health care.

The main purpose of my bachelor thesis is to characterize verbal therapy, based on available literature, as it is. Especially its subgroups I focused on- bibliotherapy, poetry therapy, dramatherapy and reminiscence therapy. By defining these lines with the help of a literary research along with semi-structured interview method and observation method I attempted to outline the use of verbal therapy as a therapeutic tool at the health care. In a practical part, I dealt with the impact of verbal therapy on actual emotional condition, establishing of a social contact within the therapy and increased interest in verbal therapy in a certain phase of people's lives. My thesis contains a discussion, where we can find an assessment of the set goals.

Vývoj asistenční aplikace pro lidi s demencí

The aim of this diploma thesis is to implement a presentation layer for the Reminiscence Computer Therapy application. Reminiscence Therapy involves the discussion of the past memories and it is believed to help people with dementia to improve their well-being and sustain their memories. Computer Reminiscence Therapy involves technology in this therapy. The research introduces into Dementia and Reminiscence Therapy with and without using technologies. The application developed as part of this diploma thesis uses picture upload and speech recognition techniques for the memory input. This is used to support remembering of past memories and to increase discussion. The application can be used with or without the carer as well as with friends and family members. The six most important requirements on the developed application are the speech recognition, picture upload, asking questions about the previous recordings, asking questions about tagged friends, using old stories for discussion and presenting the statistics. The application was developed as a part of the competition made by AngelHack organization. Presentation, business and persistence layers of the application are discussed in this diploma thesis as well as user manual and persistence layer implementation of the requirements. The presentation layer was developed using React framework for JavaScript. Other libraries have to be used as well with the most important being Redux library for storing application state. This library affected the structure of the persistence layer.

The use of reminiscence therapy in working with the elderly

The bachelor thesis deals with the use of reminiscence therapy in working with the elderly in the retirement homes. This thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part of this thesis the terms of old age and aging are characterized, their division, there are also described changes which occur during this period and further analysis of needs. The second part deals with the reminiscence therapy, its functions, its meaning and the use in the social care services. In this part there are also described the individual functions of reminiscence with the use of casuistic which were created in the retirement home in Veselí nad Lužnicí as it was noticed in the practise by the author of this thesis.
