Design of software module for paraglider landing simulator
Šulc, Dalibor ; Březina, Lukáš (referee) ; Krejsa, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is software designed to simulate landing of the paragliding wing. It means the development of the mathematic model describing the final stage of flight and landing. The model comprises the effects of controls (brakes, speed bar, weight-shifting). One part of the thesis is the description of the implementation in C# language with complete source codes.
High performance paraglider aerodynamic optimization
Grim, Robert ; Navrátil, Jan (referee) ; Popela, Robert (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the aerodynamic analysis of the competition paraglider wing. Drags of the particular wing parts are divided into chapters. The aim was to get a grasp of sizes of the individual components drags in relation to the entire assembly. In the first instance, a 2D profile and then the entire configuration of the 3D wing was analyzed. After the evaluation, some power reserves were detected in an airfoil and so the airfoil shape was optimized. After the optimization of the individual components, the CFD calculation was used again. At the end, geometry changes were evaluated.
A two stroke engine for paragliding
Šafařík, Petr ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the design of a two-stroke engine for paragliding. First of all, the different types and designs of two-stroke engines are discussed. After the design of the crank mechanism, the forces in the engine are tested, followed by the strength control of selected components. In addition, the work includes design of individual engine components, propeller reducer and 3D models of components and motor unit.
Paragliding Navigation for Android Platform
Imrich, Martin ; Mlích, Jozef (referee) ; Láník, Aleš (advisor)
This thesis describes design and implementation of an Android application for paragliding. Airspace is divided into several areas with different rules and limitations. When is the paraglider in the air, he can hardly know that he's already in any of these limited areas - like military area or airport. This application shows these areas and helps with orientation in the air. It also helps to calculate and show landing of the paraglider depending on the nearby terrain.
Design of Freeflight Helmet
Dvořák, František ; Jelenčík, Branislav (referee) ; Sládek, Josef (advisor)
This diploma thesis describes a redesign process of a flight helmet designated to open air flying. The design solution of this sophisticated equipment focuses primarily on safety, low total weight, excellent ergonomics and the best possible sound insulation. In this case, two-way radio communication and mobile phone connectivity are also very important aspects of the final product. The task is based on real demands of the Czech paramotors and aircraft equipment producer - Nirvana Systems s.r.o. Therefore this thesis doesn’t deal only with the aesthetic appearance of the new flight helmet, but it also fully reflects all technical, production and economic aspects.
Anaylisis of the paragliding rescue parachute opening
Vinš, Jiří ; Dvorský, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Vondrášek, David (referee)
Theme: Anaylisis of the paragliding rescue parachute opening Aims: To contribute safety in paragliding comunity by comparing rescue parachute speed openings. We will test different types and brands and focus mainly on speed of openings from the time of deployment to fully inflated rescue parachute. We will try to simulate it as close to the real situations as possible. Methodology: For our test we used a swing bridge where we attachad a rope. Pilot would always swing on the rope and deploy the rescue parachute. Each test was recorded on the camera so we could evaulate the speed of openings and stability. Each test was split in to 5 parts - drop in (rebound), swing, dead point (stall point), deployment, mening. Another method was experimental personality characteristics of the person conducting the investigation. Results: Results : After full analysis of the survey we found that a main factor of the reserve opening is the pilot as the direction and the strenght of the throw are the key factors for the reserve to open.Fastest open parachute in our test was cirus delta it opened in 3.17 seconds from the start of throw to open. Key words: paragliding, speed, rescue parachute, process of opening
Device equipement of the paragliding pilot
Mrázek, Martin ; Dvorský, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Fiala, Miloš (referee)
Name of thesis Flight equipment and its importance in efficiency categories of paragliding Abstract: The goals The goal of this thesis is to find out appropriate instruments and the dependence of their using on the performance category of pilot. Practical contribution of this thesis will be find out the most frequent usage of the instruments between pilots and how important they are for pilots. Methods The thesis is compiled in the form of quantitative research. For the collection of data we have chosen questionnaries, which were situated in a paragliding web. Results Detected facts represent that with increasing efficiency category, the count of respondents, for who instruments are important, is increased. The next fact represent, that with increasing efficiency category, the count of respondents, who have and use instruments, is increased. The most important instrument for all efficiency categories is variometr and then GPS. Key words Paragliding, instruments, efficiency category, importance.

The effect of paraglider`s wear and tear of different performance levels on the flight quality
Bartoš, Libor ; Dvorský, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Fiala, Miloš (referee)
Title: The effect of paraglider's wear and tear of different performance levels on the flight quality Aims: The main aim of this thesis is to define all main aspects participating in paraglider's wear and tear and changes of flight quality connected with it. Confirmation or non-confirmation of our assumption that paragliders of lower performance levels are wearing and tearing faster than paragliders of higher performance levels, especially because of poor handling by inexperienced pilots is also an important aim of this thesis. Methods: A porosimeter JDC MK1 was used as the main diagnostic tool. We have measured a porosity of skytex, material from which the paragliders are sewn. The total number of paragliders has been 253. Results were presented by using Excel spreadsheet and analyzed by using Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: Paraglider's unequal wear and tear of different performance levels was found. There has been a downward trend in wear and tear on the age of gliders from the category EN B to EN D. Performance category EN A has not been wear and tear on the level that we have expected. Keywords: paragliding, paraglider, skytex, flight quality, porosity
