Third republic in Podebrady

The proposed diploma thesis "The Third Republic in Podebrady" focuses on town Podebrady during years 1945-1948. The work provides the reader with a comprehensive overview of events at the end of the WWII. It also describes the period of liberation and the arrival of Red Army and Allied troops. Furthermore, the thesis investigates various events, that took place in Podebrady in the time of so-called Third Republic. The establishment of Municipal and District National Comitte is explored as well as their activities. Besides that, the work deals with actions of the National Security Corps (SNB) and with the development in schools and in industry in Podebrady, especially with the process of nationalization in glass and spa industries.

May 1945in optics of journal Mlada fronta in time-spiral of 65 years

The thesis "Looking through the lens of the Czech daily newspaper Mlada fronta for 65 years" examines the topic of the liberation of Czechoslovakia in May, 1945. The qualitative content analysis of selected texts available from the newspaper is used to explore the interpretation of the event in Mlada fronta. The thesis has concentrated on the development of attitudes, beliefs, ways of communications and journalistic transformation of media content concerning the liberation event over time. The main objective has been to answer the question as to whether the media portrayal of the event has remained constant or altered over the stated time period and which factors influenced the portrayal. In the conclusion of this thesis we can confirm that the monitored event has been described differently in different time periods respectively, in connection with political progress and the value of democracy in the country. The more totalitarian the regime, the more the newspaper has described freedom through preferred ideology, biased themes, dogmatic posture and offered interpretations that suited the ruling party. This indicates a form of totalitarian hegemony. During periods of greater totalitarianism, the newspaper tends to describe the theme of the freedom completely within that communist ideology. Pelhřimov region in May 1945 - the testimony of chronicles

Bachelor's work is a kind of research of the lives of people in Pelhrimov region during last days of the WW2 and the short time in its ending. It shows more about the reactions of the people to the Prague uprising and describes if they had also taken part in it. The work also describes the way how the revolt was going on and if it was in individual cases successful or not. The work contains first of all events mentioned in the chronicles of local towns and cities. The work also values the credibility of individual chronicles and other sources. In the case of the chronicles I have used, I found out, that they don't contain any faults, so they can be used also in my next work. One of the villages mentioned in my work is called Leskovice. On 5th and 6th May the village was burnt and local people were murdered by a SS crew from Pelhrimov. Beside using information from the chronicle, I went to the village and made some interviews with survivors of the tragedy, so I can verify these events by an authentic experience.
