The Everyday Ethics of Social Workers in Expectations of the Clients
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Julie
This Bachelor thesis deals with the everyday ethics of social workers in the expectations of the clients. The theoretical part is based on the knowledge obtained from the literature and electronic resources, which write about current society, ethics, social work, social worker, client of social services. quality of social work, economization, legislation, and stress in social work, supervision, role of the social worker, expectations by social workers, relationship between a social worker and client etc. The goal of this work is to find out what are the expectations of the clients of social services in relation to social workers and at the same time to gain awareness about how social workers deal with these expectations on a daily basis. Set out the four research questions: Which ideas do clients have about the social worker profession? What do most clients expect from a social worker? How do social workers perceive ethics in their work? How can stress affect the work of social workers? For obtaining the data qualitative research was chosen. Specifically the techniques were used semi-controlled interview with open and closed questions with active listening technique and participatory observation technique. Research probe consists of accidentally selected social workers and clients of social services in the district of Pisek. For the purpose of research was addressed 22 social workers and 18 clients of social organizations and institutions. The data was analyzed using the methods of scoring. The empirical part will focus on the expectations of the clients of social workers.. The results shows that the expectations of the clients are very diverse, according to the social services, which they require. For example the six clients expect that the social worker can advise them with the resolution of their situation. Clients of social services require a suitable job or increase social benefits by workers at the Office. Almost all users of residential services require space and time for the interview. The results also shows that the all social workers perceive ethics during their work. Stress in difficult situations was felt by 10 social workers interviewed, mostly in a troubled situations. In my opinion there is a need for more and better way of informing the public about the profession of a social worker. When the public will know what they can expect by social workers, then social workers may recieve a feedback. The task of this work is not to submit clear explanations examined by the facts, but rather to convey readers a preview of everyday ethics in the practice of social workers and to find out what clients expect the most from social workers. This thesis work I would like to contribute to the larger preview on the issue. At the same time I would like to penetrate to the mutual relationship between social worker and client. This work could serve as study material for students and staff of social work. The thesis could also serve as a basis for further research about the issue.

It also deals with nutritional supplements to make up for lack of energy of the client. The research was carried out in two parts. The qualitative part includes objective 1: to find out eating habits of clients before an operation. Objective 2: to find out an average weight loss during the preparation for an intestine operation. Objective 3: to find out client´s foreknowledge of nourishment. Objective 4: to map the approach of the clients to nutritional products. These objectives were assigned with these research questions: 1 - What meals do the clients consume? 2 - What is the average weight loss during the preparation for the intestine operation? 3 - What is the client´s foreknowledge of nourishment? 4 - What is the client´s approach to nourishment? In order to find out responses to the research questions, a depth interview with the clients of the hospital in Tábor was conducted . Objective 1 was fulfilled and the findings showed that the eating habits of the clients were not in compliance with a healthy and regular diet. Objective 2 was fulfilled as well. As confirmed by the research, the weight loss during the preparation for the intestine operation is dependent on the length of the client´s troubles before the operation. Objective 3 was fulfilled. The clients have a notion of the nourishment meaning based on their knowledge. Objective 4 was fulfilled. The clients take nutritional products to supplement the regular diet, which supports recovery and improves organism´s nourishment. The quantitative part of the research was intended to find out knowledge of the nursing staff about possibilities of nourishment. This objective was assigned with two hypotheses. Hypothesis 1: Nurses working at the inpatient surgical unit are informed about nourishment. Hypothesis 2: Nurses working at the inpatient surgical unit monitor the influence of nourishment on the client´s state of health. In order to confirm the hypotheses, a questionnaire for nurses working at the inpatient surgical units in the hospital in Tábor, Písek and České Budějovice was carried out. The determined hypotheses 1 and 2 were confirmed. The research resulted in the fact that the nurses working at the inpatient surgical units are informed about nourishment and that when a patient is accepted to the unit, the nurses make a nutritional screening, which is evidenced by 98.7% of positive responses in the questionnaire, and that the nurses monitor the influence of nourishment on the client´s state of health as documented by 90.91% of positive responses of the respondents to the questionnaire. The research showed that nourishment is an integral part of the treatment. Based on the findings of the research, a brochure of nourishment for the clients and nursing staff of the surgical unit was developed, which is intended to be used in practice as a handbook of possibilities of nutritional product use.
Application of the element of basal stimulation in the nursing practice
WEISSOVÁ, Eva
Abstract The use of elements of the basal stimulation in nursing praxis The actual state Nowadays this concept belong among very accredited and very used concepts in nursing praxis and pedagogy in the countries of Europe. This concept deals with all areas of human needs and is used especially in taking care of premature infants, children and adults with intellect and somatic disability, people with different acute and chronic diseases, patients after brain injuries and clients with dementia. The aim of the concept is to organize the conditions of health care users in order to support their development, autonomy, and provide them with a chance to live their life in a highest possible quality. Objectives of the work: In this bachelor thesis there were stated two goals. The first objective of my work was to find out how the nurses orientate in the area of the basal stimulation. The second one was to find out how the nurses use the basal stimulation in different departments. The methodology: To gain and to process all the data needed for the empirical part we used qualitative research and we executed the semi-structured interview with the surveyed respondents on chosen departments. The research group consisted of 16 respondents. All of it were nurses working on internal, traumatology, and rehabilitation inpatient department of South bohemian region and nurses working at a Hospice of St. Lazarus in Pilsen. Results: After executing the analysis of the received data two main categories appeared. In the first category: "Orientation of nurses in application in area of basal stimulation elements in nursing praxis" appeared 8 subcategories of results of interviews with nurses. It was found out that nurses on the chosen departments know the term "basal stimulation", some elements of BS, but only 3 of them completed the course of basal stimulation. Within the second category "the use of basal stimulation by nurses on the chosen departments" appeared 5 subcategories. First half of the surveyed nurses do not apply elements of BS and the second half do apply only some of them. It implies that if all the nurses would have finished the course of BS they could have used the BS and significantly improve the nursing care with the application of the most appropriate elements of BS. The conclusion: The research implies that the medical staff is inadequately informed about the concept of BS. The results confirm that the concept is applied mainly by nurses who have finished the course of BS. Other nurses apply only some parts of it which they know from observing the educated medical staff applying the BS in their nursing praxis or thanks to the information they have from school or other sources. There is therefore no chance of quality provision of BS elements and correct education and communication with family which is very important when providing BS. Subsequently, there was created a summary of "Ten of the basal stimulation commandments".
