Communist Party of Czechoslovakia on the road to the illegality

Bachelor thesis discusses the possibilities of semi-underground work of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ) since the late 1920s through to the final period of the legality of the Communist Party during the "Second Republic". The paper is divided into three thematic blocks. The first section deals with the context in the form of development of the party system since the late 1920s to the end of the First Republic, and also the legal framework for the protection of the republic. The second part is devoted to the history of the KSČ during this period. The third part is devoted to the analysis already semi-underground work opportunities, which is the main theme of my thesis. The main objective is to show the possibilities of semi-underground work. In fact, it is the kind of analysis the official party press, in which the articles could describe the illegal activities of illegal foreign parties. These articles could eventually serve as role models for the domestic illegal work. This fact is examined in the second part of the analysis. The thesis is also partly concerns the question of the influence of the Comintern on organizing these activities and even general influence on the Comintern on the inner side management. Bachelor thesis discusses the possibilities of underground work of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ) and their presentation on examples of an illegal work of the foreign Communist Parties in the legal Czechoslovakian red newspapers since the late 1920s through to the final period of the legality of the Communist Party during the "Second Republic". The paper is divided into three thematic blocks. The first section deals with the context in the form of development of the party system since the late 1920s to the end of the First Republic, also the legal framework for the protection of the republic and the definition of anti-systemness. The second part depicts the history of the KSČ during late 1920s and early 1930s. The third part is already devoted to analyzing the possibility of illegal work by means of comparison. In fact in terms of analyzing the official party press, which could be based on articles on the activities of illegal foreign parties. These articles could eventually serve as models for the domestic illegal work. This fact is examined in the second part of the analysis. The Importance of Communism in the International Brigades in the Spanish Civil War

This Bachelor thesis deals with the question of importance of communism behind the International Brigades in the Spanish civil war. About 35.000 volunteers from fifty three countries of the world arrived in Spain between 1936 and 1939 in order to join the special military units created for them to support the fight of the local Republicans' cause. The Rightist propaganda over the years tended to describe them as cowards and "Stalin's puppets". Many of them were not able to return home after the end of the war and had to face persecution or some sort of discrimination. Appropriate homage was apart from few exceptions only paid to them by Spain on the sixtieth anniversary of the beginning of the civil war. The main aim of this paper thus is to challenge the propagandist hypothesis that all International Brigades' volunteers can be regarded as dedicated communists controlled by the Soviet Union. Via examination of the volunteers' motivation from selected countries of Europe and North and Latin America the author tries to analyze the role played by communism. The second part of the hypothesis is checked in the chapter focused on the motives and ways of the Soviet assistance to the Spanish Republic. Nikos Zachariadis and the Communist Party of Greece during the Metaxas dictatorship

This essay describes the situation of the communist movement in Greek society in the interwar period and mainly during the Metaxas dictatorship (1936-1941) when it had to adopt to many important changes. The Greek communists who were ruthlessly persecuted by the regime had gained greater public support as well as further experience in illegal activity. When they later got engaged in the fights of the World War II and the Greek civil war they suceeded to make use of it. Despite the ideology of Metaxas being in plain contradiction to the ideology of the Communist party of Greece, they both cooperated after the Italian agression against Greece in October 1940. This attitude helped Metaxas, as well as KKE, to gain public support that had been so far unusual. It is a paradox that the year 1941 became for both of them historically the first moment of explicit political success.
