Čenovská, Kateřina ; Kristek, Jan (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
My bachelor project is a study of a multifunctional building of Faculty of Science Palacký University in Olomouc, Holice. This building will be a new space for feeding and spending the free time not only for academic community but also for public visiting the nearest neighborhoood for example Holice forest. The building is the main entrance to the premises of the faculty. In the first floor we can find café, cafeteria and library, we can visit the lectures in the auditorium in the second floor and last but not least we will find accommodation for summer school students, teachers and foreign visitors in the second and third floor. Surroundings and the shape of the building are designed to create a new public space for assembly which is now absent.
Between the Landscape and the City
Šellongová, Slavka ; Svojanovský, Viktor (referee) ; Žalmanová, Petra (advisor)
The task of the work was to propose an entrance area for the premises of the Faculty of Science, University of Palacký University Olomouc. I design my object with the intention of not separating the site from the rest of the area but creating space that is attractive to discover. Inspiration for the shape and form of the object is the earth's floe, which breaks and rises from the surface, which brings gradation of the volume from the country to the city. By sloping the edges, the composition has its dynamism and creates square spaces in front of the main entrance and the square to which the mass is gradually being considered, it retains connection with an existing area park.
The Identification and the Origin of the Gemstones Adorning the Insignia of the Charles University in Prague , the Faculty of Science
Petrová, Zdeňka ; Goliáš, Viktor (advisor) ; Hanusová, Irena (referee)
The issue of a sceptre for the newly founded Faculty of Science was first discussed on the meeting of Faculty professors on the 25th November 1921, more than a year after the separation of the Faculty of Science from the Faculty of Arts. The commission elected from among the professors proposed a motion that the new Faculty sceptre should resemble the sceptre of the parental Faculty of Arts. Through a mediation of the Ministry of Education and National Enlightment the design of the new sceptre was ordered from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design and it was elaborated by prof. Jaroslav Horejc. However, in January 1923, his design was rejected, because it didn't meet the requirements of the professors' conservative approach. When prof. Horejc refused to make a modified copy of the sceptre of the Faculty of Arts, the professors addressed Tengler, the goldsmith who had made the sceptres of other faculties and of the rector in previous years. Alois Tengler was willing to make a modified copy of the sceptre of Faculty of Arts, but he also proposed a new design (with estimated price of 20 000 K), which the professors found more suitable and subsequently this design was adopted. Tengler committed himself to manufacture the sceptre by the 15th November 1924 and to incorporate any additional design...
Scientific and Institutional Activities of Bohumil Němec at Charles University
Loginov, Ivan ; Hermann, Tomáš (advisor) ; Žárský, Viktor (referee)
Bohumil Němec ranks among the most remarkable figures of Czech science. At the beginning of the 20th century he made a significant contribution to the explanation of plant gravitropism and to the establishment of the Institute for plant physiology at the Faculty of Science at Charles University. Besides that he also studied plant regeneration, fertilization and nuclear division. In my thesis I processed scientific and popular scientific articles by Němec and used secondary sources to analyze his overall activity at the university in historical context. Thesis output is structured overview of Bohumil Němec's activities which can be used for the follow-up research.
