Passive optical networks WDM-PON
Havliš, Ondřej ; Šifta, Radim (referee) ; Münster, Petr (advisor)
The work deals with optical access networks, passive optical networks, especially WDM-PON. Features a modern solution to connect users to the optical access network using optical FTTx connections. Describes the different types of FTTx connections, their parameters and construction technology. Practical work is a practical application of theory for the development of various design and simulation of WDM-PON networks. Each proposal includes the construction of technical solutions optical access networks, the technology used and the balance of the reduced pricing WDM-PON network. The penultimate part of the work consists of design models simulated WDM-PON networks by the simulation program OptSim. The conclusion deals with the evaluation of individual design and simulation of WDM-PON networks.
Evaluation of influence of UMTS radio access network parameters on network performance using Opnet Modeler simulation environment
Konečný, Zbyněk ; Škorpil, Vladislav (referee) ; Novotný, Vít (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with testing the effect of various parameters and their subsequent influence on the operation of the entire UMTS access network. Each simulation will be implemented in Opnet Modeler, which is used for network testing based on packet switching. The aim of this work is the most effective operation of UMTS networks. Since the UMTS network uses a shared radio environment for all users close to one transmitter, the total capacity of one cell is dependent on the size of interference produced by mobile terminals in the cell. Increasing the capacity of cells can be done by properly elected handover. The first part of this work will therefore concern different types of handovers and their impact on the network operation. Nowadays communication through mobile packet networks is becoming more and more important and that is why the second part of this work will focus on the simulation of traffic UMTS networks. It will be simulated by the behavior of individual applications without the use of QoS. Then the application will be assigned to different quality classes and the quality of service will be compared with simulations without using QoS. The conclusion of this work will contain laboratory work, which should partly make the students familiar with the data traffic in the UMTS network through a simulation program – Opnet Modeler.
Quality of services and experience qualify for next generation networks
Vaněk, Jiří ; Horváth, Tomáš (referee) ; Grenar, David (advisor)
The thesis sums up the traffic parameters for the evaluation of next-generation access networks. There are mentioned parameters for service quality management and parameters for measuring the quality of experience. The EU regulation on High Speed Internet in the Czech Republic is analyzed. The practical part compares the results between the implementation of the quality management of services and without implementation. Also there is comparing theoretical and practical transmission rates of physical ports. Part of the thesis is a questionnaire focused on the quality of experience of the video sequence.
POF - Polymer optical fibers
Janovský, Marek ; Šifta, Radim (referee) ; Filka, Miloslav (advisor)
This document informs readers with polymer optical fibres (POF). The first section summarizes basic properties and differences between polymer and glass optical fibres. The second section contains list of POF types, their differences in the structure and refractive indexes. Further is described preparation of fibre surface for connector pin and connector types, which are used for POF. Next section contains usage of POF in access networks, types of access networks and FTTx network types. The document continues design of FTTH, FTTB and LAN for home application. The practical part deals with basic measurements with POF, production of coupler and measuring response at test ranges. The final section summarizes the overall findings and results.
Integrated telecommunication environment
Tomeček, Jan ; Škorpil, Vladislav (referee) ; Polívka, Michal (advisor)
The thesis described the proposal for a wireless network problems. There are recorded and compared the characteristics of different wireless technologies. The possibility of voice communication securing is outlined and solutions implemented in the form of ZRTP protocol. The requirements for quality of service are discussed and the solutions to this issue are proposed. Other chapters are devoted to the actual design of specific equipment, including antennas and advance resource. The whole network is practically implemented in the mountainous countryside of eastern Wallachia. In conclusion, this work is network mate in terms of QoS (quality of service) and tested in terms of prioritization of voice communication.
Optimization of access networks for multimedia services
Slavíček, Tomáš ; Reichert, Pavel (referee) ; Šporik, Jan (advisor)
This thesis describes the problems of access networks and their existing types. It discusses the important parameters for multimedia services. It considers the possibility of using various networks at the localities. It presents modern multimedia services and their requirements for access networks. Next step describes the possible use of QoS to optimize access networks used for multimedia services. Multimedia services to different types of networks and limits which these types of networks have, are simulated in the program Opnet Modeler. Measurements of values important for securing quality of services are implemented at selected real access networks. In conclusion, the results of simulations and measurements are subjected to comparative analysis.
Monitoring of services within active network elements by Mikrotik
Kamenář, Filip ; Slavíček, Karel (referee) ; Grenar, David (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the monitoring of the VPN services on the networking elements Mikrotik. The theoretical part includes the description of RouterOS system, management options and networking devices used. The thesis consists of the description of the VPN services and analysis of PPTP, SSTP, L2TP and OpenVPN protocols, which are implemented in the practical part of this work. The theory also contains the description of monitoring devices included in the RouterOS system. In comparison, external tools are enlisted. Chosen monitoring tools are therefore implemented in the practical part of the thesis and in the monitoring script. The practical part of the bachelor thesis is focused on the establishment of VPN tunnels and its parameter measurement. The VPN clients are to be found in the Czech Republic, Ukraine and Egypt, which establishes the real conditions for network monitoring status. The final part of the work deals with the script, which is created for the automatic-monitoring of VPN service in the accessible network and sends the gathered data to the operators. The aim of the thesis is to illustrate the usage of integrated monitoring tools in the RouterOS system in the network built on the Mikrotik elements. The chosen monitoring service was the service VPN, which is being used for remote access to the local networks from distant part of the world by the corporations but also individuals. Individual monitored parameters are enlisted and compared depending on client geographic location.
The utilization of POF in access networks
Doležal, Ondřej ; Šporik, Jan (referee) ; Filka, Miloslav (advisor)
In this work, the reader familiares with plastic optical fiber (POF). Firstly are mentioned the basics of the optical transmission. Then there are the main features and parameters POF and a historical overview, detailed description of the types of POF, their important strengths and weaknesses, comparison with glass fiber, installation, available POF connectors and procedure of measurements and a summary of key findings from the practice, including a description of existing experiments and projects. The second part focuses on the use of POF in access networks. There are described present trends in access networks, an overview of optical access networks and explaination the concept with the inclusion of POF in optical networks (FTTX). Furthermore, there are possibilities of POF fibers in segment of local networks and their readiness for advanced network services, such as IPTV. The penultimate chapter contains design test polygon and final part summarizes all findings and results of this work.
