The Veřejné mínění (Public Opinion) Journal (1946-1948)

This thesis approaches the theoretical concepts of public opinion, its history and origins of public opinion research in the Czechoslovak Republic and abroad. It describes the circumstances of the creation, operation and termination of the Czechoslovak Institute for Public Opinion Research, which was established under the leadership of Josef Kopta and came under the I. Department of the Ministry of Information. More particularly provides a detailed view of The Veřejné mínění Journal, which was published between 1946 and 1948 and the publisher was the institute. Among the personalities associated with the institute and the magazine belonged Čeněk Adamec, Bohuš Pospíšil and Milan A. Tesař. The journal represented a Europe-wide unique. No other institution published a similar format of the journal, which conceived as the major topic of public opinion. It was a professional and popularization journal, which was addressed to experts and the general public. Individual subsections describe the specific content of the journal, which, inter alia, consist of professional articles of various kinds, reports on domestic and foreign researches, comments from readers and other sections. Special attention is given to information related to the field of media.

Declension in textbooks of Czech for foreigners - intended for methodology of instruction of Czech as second language

The thesi s intends to contribute to the methodology of teaching of Czech as a foreign language, name1y to focus on the way dec1ension is presented in textbooks of Czech for Foreigners. The first chapter of the paper outlines the main aspects of -- - ---- Didactics of second language acquisition, particularly main methodical" theories, curriculum, its goals and implementation in the courses, psychological basis of second language teaching and learning and, finally, the linguistic sources. The second chapter examines the current situation of Czech for foreigners, its needs and demands. The main emphasis is put on the textbooks analysis ~specially methods of dec1ension presentation. For the analysis I use 6 examples of textbooks which are either the most commonly used in the Czech Republic and Germany, or bring a specific approach to the dec1ension subject. The core of the paper is based on comparison of the horizontal and vertical structuring of dec1ension presentation in the examined textbooks and my suggestion of a possible altemative to both of the mentioned concepts. By using the advantages of both of them I try to create a compromise between them to make dec1ension teaching and learning more effective and attractive for both teachers and leamers. Foreign currency in accounting

The thesis describes questions of exchange differences in accordance with Czech generally accounting principle and in accordance with the International financial reporting standards. Accordance with Czech accounting principle is the choice of the exchange rate and method of evaluating and accounting for exchange rate differences. The second part of this thesis is focused on International financial reporting standards. It explains the concept of functional currency factors and its determination. It describes translation from the local currency to the functional currency and the translation from the functional currency to the presentation currency. The last part of thesis describes the functional currency in US GAAP.
