Czech public libraries as an institution of lifelong learning with a focus on seniors

(in English): This thesis is dedicated to projects of lifelong learning in Czech public libraries. Its aim is to examine to what extent Czech public libraries are devoted to lifelong learning, especially retiree education, and further, to analyze specific educational projects. Considering the demographic development of the Czech population, there is highlighted the importance and the significance of organizing such programs in the libraries. The first part of the thesis presents theoretical basis and explains terms such as lifelong learning and education, learning society, and formal, non-formal, and informal education. Another part of the thesis deals with gerontopedagogy and old age pensioners. Specific forms of adult education are also presented here. In the practical part, there is an analysis of educational projects of libraries and the questionnaires of the participants are evaluated.

The library community services for users of the middle generation

Thesis Community services of library for middle-aged citizens deals with ways, which transform services of libraries from traditional borrowing services to community services in recent years. Most importantly, it discusses which kind of events are seen as interesting for middle-aged citizens aged 40-55, or more precisely what makes this group visit the library. First part of the thesis deals with definition of basic terms, such as community library, services of libraries, middle-age citizens and lifelong education. Further, it describes examples of new concept of libraries and library services in practice in age, when printed documents are not as necessary for users as they used to be. Next step of the thesis is the analysis of statistic figures, services and events hosted by three chosen libraries - Masaryk public library in Vsetín, town libraries in Nový Jičín and Valašské Meziříčí. The survey of interest preferences of middle-aged users is divided into two parts. First part deals with effects of survey research among users and potential users of libraries in monitored age, where interest preferences and relationship of respondent to library and its services. A complaints book in the library - examples of the use and effectiveness

Bachelor's thesis describes the analysis of the entries in the Books of wishes and complaints about the practice of free different types of libraries. Entries are analyzed of view form and content, and then dividend according to the formal processing of the types of records that are subsequently dividend according dates and according to content, broken down into categories and subcategories that describe the subjekt entries. Further on, response libraries thus obtained suggestions and feedback to the scene chosen by comparing the best practices and recommended its improvement. The work is made up of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part of the tendency is the definition of the term Suggestions and complaints and are described embodiment, a complaints book with which a user might encounter in the Czech libraries. In the practical part is a description of the analysis, which took place in the National Library, Regional Library in Pardubice and Prague MunicipalLibrary.
