Title: Anthropometric factors of Czech artillery soldiers Objectives: The aim of this paper is to evaluate somatotype and body composition of Czech artillery soldiers. It compares three different methods of determining body fat and searches for an easily measurable and reliable predictor of low bone density, whereas evaluating correlations between selected anthropometric factors. Methods: Members of the 13th Artillery Regiment Jince were divided into three groups according to their classification, after which a stratified selection was used to maintain appropriate ratio of the groups. The study involved 189 men and 20 women (age 31.7 ± 6.4 years; height 178.4 ± 7.7 cm; weight 83.8 ± 13.6 kg). All participants were active professional soldiers at the time of the measurement. The data were obtained in the Jince Military Base and in the biomedical laboratory at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of Charles University. Each volunteer underwent four procedures - Heath- Carter somatotyping, Durnin-Womersley body fat estimation, a detailed bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) using Tanita MC-980, and a full-body dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) using Horizon System. To determine mutual relations, Kendall rank correlation coefficient was used and the level of significance was set at p =...

Vacková, Petra ; Vokounová, Šárka (advisor) ; Kinkorová, Ivana (referee)
Title: A Comparison of Somatotype between Female Rugby Union Forwards and Backs Objectives: To compare differences and similarities of somatotype between female forwards and backs of the Czech Rugby Union. Method: A total number of 30 elite female rugby players participated in this study. Somatic measurements necessary to specify one's somatotype and Heath- Carter method were used on all subjects. All collected data was analysed in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets with results demonstrated using bar charts, tables and somatographs. Results: No significant differences were found between selected groups. Mesomorphy was found to have the highest value in both groups followed by the endomorphic and ectomorphic component. The endomorphic and mesomorphic component was found to be higher in forwards, however the value of ectomorphy was slightly higher in backs. In comparison with research of Welsh female rugby players, mean somatotype of this study was more comparable to the elite group of players. Keywords: somatotype, Rugby Union, forwards, backs
The level of selected motor skills and adiposity of preschool children.
Galář, Jakub ; Vokounová, Šárka (advisor) ; Musálek, Martin (referee)
The bachelor thesis is focused on proving the close relationship between worsening physical condition among preschool children and the growth of their body fat. These two changes are considered to be the result of the modern way of life with the lack of physical activity. The fact that the situation has worsened can be seen in the increasing prevalence of obesity among children. The survey for the bachelor thesis took place in 2017 April until July among 176 4- to 6-year-old children (87 boys and 89 girls) who were attending kindergarten. The first technique used was to gauge subcutaneous fat by measuring skinfold thickness. In the case of children, the skinfold at the triceps (above m. triceps brachii) and the subscapular skinfold (above the shoulder blade). The second technique involved motoric testing. 20-meter run characterizes the speed skills of children. The long jump defines the explosive strength of lower limbs, coordination, and nimbleness. Ball throw helps to test the level of explosive strength of upper limb connected with nimbleness and coordination. In the end, we used the Slaughter skinfold-thickness method to gauge the percentage of subcutaneous fat. We compared the long-term changes with the two surveys (Pařízková, 1977) and (Dvořáková, Baboučková, Justián, 2010). Our findings show...

Title: Assumption of admission of probands UK FTVS in the field of Population Protection with focus on education to the Fire Brigade of the Czech Republic Objectives: The objective of this bachelor's thesis is to determine the efficiency of training of students in the field of Population Protection with focus on education (OO-TVS) with respect to physical fitness. This is achieved by comparing the scores of FTVS students to real Fire Brigade recruits in the admission tests used by the Fire Brigade of the Czech Republic. Methodology: The bachelor's thesis has been divided into two parts: empirical and theoretical. The probands were selected from the third year students in the field of Population Protection. Testing of the probands has been carried out on the premises of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport. The efficiency was then determined based on the comparison of success rates of recent real-life HZS ČR recruits to the OO-TVS students. Results: The success rate of the OO-TVS students is 80%, being 4% higher than the chosen limit. Total test scores of all probands are well above the required minimum. Based on the results, the training in the field of OO- TVS seems to meet very high standards. Keywords: Physical fitness tests, Fire Brigade of the Czech Republic, Faculty of Physical...
