The relationship between over-claiming and truancy: Using the over-claiming technique on PISA 2012 data
Mayerová, Kateřina ; Voňková, Hana (advisor) ; Papajoanu, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis addresses the issue of the association between the over-claiming technique (OCT) and truancy based on data collected in the PISA 2012 student questionnaire. First, it summarises the theoretical background on the PISA survey, over-claiming of self-reported knowledge and related research to date, and truancy. In general, the paper aims to investigate whether there is a relationship between over-claiming of knowledge and truancy and whether there are differences in this relationship across the countries and economics involved in the 2012 PISA survey. The relationships between truancy and over-claiming of knowledge turned out to be statistically significant, although the correlation values are low. The highest values can be observed between at least some familiarity with non-existing concepts and truancy variables, between at least some familiarity with existing concepts and truancy variables, and between accuracy index and truancy variables. These relationships are most pronounced in South Korea, Macau, Taipei, Australia, New Zealand, Estonia, Lithuania, Hungary, Slovakia, Spain, Ireland, Iceland and the UK. KEYWORDS The overclaiming technique, truancy, late arrivals to school, PISA, cross-country comparison

Keprt, Jan ; Voňková, Hana (advisor) ; Papajoanu, Ondřej (referee)
Changes in leisure activities of older school-age children and adolescents in the context of the restrictions announced by the Government of the Czech Republic during the COVID-19 pandemic ABSTRACT The thesis focuses on the changes in the leisure time of children and adolescents due to the restriction of personal freedom of individuals related to the state of emergency declared by the government of the Czech Republic. This state of emergency was declared by the government of the Czech Republic in order to protect public health in the context of the SARS CoV-2 (COVID - 19) pandemic. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a research part, where the theoretical part explains the concepts related to the topic and the research part explains the interrelationships between the selected variables based on a questionnaire survey and follow-up interviews. The research found that the impact of the SARS CoV-2 pandemic is not the only factor influencing the changes in the respondents' leisure time, especially since the period under study covers almost three years of the respondent's life, and therefore there are normal developmental changes. Drdáková, Veronika ; Voňková, Hana (advisor) ; Papajoanu, Ondřej (referee)
In this diploma thesis we will focus on the method of Visual Thinking), which has not yet been described in Czech literature, which was developed in the education department of the most famous Museum of Modern Art in New York, a method that actively develops abilities and skills in the areas of: visual literacy, critical thinking, communication, cooperation, tolerance. The method uses the learning process by expanding, changing and elaborating existing cognitive schemes through interaction with artistic images through a specially designed program. In the theoretical part we deal with the characteristics and analysis of the method, the possibilities of implementation in the Czech curriculum, we find the possibilities of the impact of the method on affective and cognitive abilities, we build on common parallels in the method Reading and Writting to Critical Thinking. The VTS teaching method has been successfully implemented in schools and cultural institutions throughout the country in the USA and...

Student Self-assessment of English Language Level
Králová, Kateřina ; Voňková, Hana (advisor) ; Štípek, Jiří (referee) ; Vlčková, Kateřina (referee)
v anglickém jazyce This thesis deals with the self-assessment of the level of English language of upper-secondary school pupils (ISCED 3). Self-assessment questions are often used in pedagogical research, both in the Czech Republic and at the international level (e.g. PISA, TIMSS, ICILS). At the same time, they often contain a rating scale for recording the answer. However, for a direct comparison of the answers obtained, all respondents must understand both the question asked and individual points on the scale in the same way. Literature and research deal with heterogeneity in reporting behavior or differential item functioning. One possible solution is the anchoring vignette method. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the differences in adjusted and unadjusted subjective self-assessments of respondents. The theoretical part consists of two chapters. In the first chapter, different levels of knowledge of language skills and their possible measurement methods are discussed. One of the methods is self-assessment, which is defined in the work and the issue of the incomparability of respondents' statements is presented. In the second chapter, the anchoring vignette method is described. The empirical part describes the research study carried out at upper-secondary vocational schools of various types...
